We are just over seven weeks before high school basketball practice begins in Ohio. If you think about it, if you are lucky enough to play varsity for four years, you play 22 games and let’s say on the average three tournament games each year, meaning you’re going to play about 100 high school basketball games in your life. And that’s if you stay healthy the whole time.
If you know you’re only gonna get 100 chances to play the sport you love for your school and with your friends, don’t you think you’re going to give elite and extreme effort every single night? Don’t you want to be the very best that you can be for those 100 nights?
It doesn’t start October 31, it starts now. You’ve got seven weeks to bust your a** get in the best shape you can, and show up ready to go when practice starts. If you are expected to be a leader or captain, then you need to lead.
For those of you who aren’t in a fall sport (or even some that are), take advantage of open gyms or just go into the gym before or after school and put up 300 shots a day. Some people call it sacrifice, I call it preparation.
Your time is now, what are you going to do with it?
