A strong start to the 92nd HOTREC General Assembly in Cork today.
In partnership with the Irish Hotels Federation, the Restaurants Association of Ireland is proud to welcome hospitality leaders from over 30 European countries.
@PresidentRAI Seán Collender and CEO of the Restaurants Association of Ireland and @HOTREC_EUROPE Treasurer @adriancummins addressed delegates as 47 associations from across Europe come together at a pivotal moment for the sector.
With 99.6% of businesses operating as SMEs in Ireland, the industry continues to face significant pressure from rising energy costs due to wider global uncertainty.
Bringing European colleagues together in Cork comes at an important time, as businesses across the continent navigate increasing input costs and challenges, ahead of Ireland’s EU Presidency this July #HotrecGACork

Rory is an exceptional golfer and a fantastic ambassador for Ireland globally.
However, we would respectfully disagree with his comments regarding Irish food.
Irish food is among the very best in the world, built on exceptional local produce, world-class chefs and a strong farm-to-fork tradition.
As Gordon Ramsay has said, Ireland is “the sleeping beauty of European cuisine” and that reputation is now being realised every day across our restaurant sector.
When Rory returns to Ireland for the Irish Open in Doonbeg later this year, we would strongly encourage him to experience some of the very best Irish produce on offer and we would be more than happy to show him a few spots ourselves.
Ireland’s food offering is a central part of our tourism and cultural identity. We look forward to working with Government on a new food tourism strategy that fully showcases our strengths, from farm to fork, and supports the continued growth of our world-class hospitality sector.
I will be sending Rory an invitation to launch this new strategy when it is completed.
We wish Rory and Shane Lowry the very best in Augusta this weekend.
Is @deloitteireland saying only 24 Hospitality businesses closed in Ireland for the first 2 months of 2026
Interesting to hear from customers and fellow business owners with regards to the real facts across the state regarding closures https://t.co/U6CN2E3LEU
At a time of global turmoil and great challenge, we look for signs of hope in the everyday.
To Irish people and friends of Ireland everywhere, we wish you a very happy St Patrick’s Day!
Lá Fhéile Pádraig sona daoibh.

Irish people should have the option of calling an Uber or a Bolt
Lessons of two decades ago remain true: bold reform, focused on enhancing competition, can deliver huge benefits to consumers

Watch @adriancummins, speaking on RTÉ News on what the Michelin Guide recognition means for our sector.
This is a powerful endorsement of the high standards and depth of quality across Irish hospitality, recognising not just chefs but entire restaurant teams and the full dining experience.
Crucially, it strengthens Ireland’s position as a leading food destination and builds real momentum behind the new national culinary tourism strategy due later this year. Culinary tourism is central to attracting visitors, showcasing Irish produce and ensuring our restaurant sector can grow and thrive.
Congratulations to @ForestAveDub and The Pullman who earned their first Michelin Stars.

Yesterday, the Restaurants Association of Ireland attended the launch of @TourismIreland marketing strategy and plans to promote the island of Ireland overseas in 2026. The event was attended by Minister @peterburkefg and more than 600 tourism industry leaders from across the country.
It was great to see Tourism Ireland unveil its new global advertising campaign, Ireland Goes Beyond, showcasing Ireland as the land of 100,000 welcomes. Across the tourism sector and especially in hospitality, this is where visitors experience Ireland at its very best.
We look forward to working closely with Tourism Ireland and Fáilte Ireland with a renewed focus on culinary tourism.
Credit to @AliceManserghTI and her team for an informative and engaging event.
