Absolutely incredible morning sessions, starting off with a keynote from Teara Fraser, Founder and CEO of Iskwew Air, then Darcy Hunt. Some very profound teachings from Teara - who left us with a powerful message: “How can I honour Indigenous peoples?”
We have much to learn. 🙏
Great sessions this afternoon on Day Two of #AEAC2024, including:
+ How to accelerate RTM to enable routine BVLOS flights
+ How to advance Precision Agriculture in Canada
+ Use-cases for RPAS and safety at airports
+ Empowering women in drones
👏👏👏👏👏
Great back-to-back panels.
1) @navcanada on enhancing safety in RPAS operations (with an emphasis on the NAV Can app) and…
2) Drones and Airports: The ‘Flight’ Path Forward
We are definitely headed toward a BVLOS future, enabled by an automated ATM platform.
Panel underway on C-UAS, where Transport Canada’s Ryan Coates outlined the regulator’s strategy.
“How do you evaluate that threat and the severity of the threat?” he asked. “In the event something does happen, what is the response?
Good questions. Check out slide 2:

Fascinating fireside chat underway between AEAC’s Michael Cohen and Adam Welsh, DJI’s Head of Global Policy and Government Relations.
Welsh says the firm is pursuing legal action against the US Dept of Defence, which placed the company on a list of Chinese “military” companies.
There was a standing ovation at #AEAC2024 as Susan Chapman was recognised for her tireless work with the annual student competition.
She's been a driving force behind that competition for 13 years – and was recognised with the Pip Rudkin Individual Achievement Award.
👏 👏 👏

Just wrapped another amazing Women in Drones luncheon. Great turnout, and thanks to @LMCanadaNews for sponsoring the lunch!
Thanks also to Ctrl – which sponsored the lunch in the main room. Very tasty – and much appreciated!
Another great session on the first morning of #AEAC2024. The Civil Air Search And Rescue Association (@CASARA_National) updated the conference on its recent push into the RPAS space, to leverage trained volunteers for Search and Rescue BVLOS flights across the country.
Great session underway on Drones as First Responders. Some amazing examples of using drones to assist with law enforcement and emergency calls in California. “It’s an absolute game-changer,” said one officer. “It saves lives.”
Heartfelt thanks and Congratulations to the National Research Council's Airspace Research Centre. @NRC_CNRC
It was honoured with the Organisational Achievement Award for its outstanding contributions to the RPAS sector.
Award sponsored by @spexigeo
Congratulations to Bryan Kikuta, winner of this year's prestigious Mark Cuss Memorial Scholarship.
Mark was a brilliant young engineer, and it's a pleasure to honour his memory with someone on a stellar trajectory in the RPAS world.
Presenting is AEAC Chair Michael Cohen.
A very big CONGRATULATIONS to Jacob Taylor, the recipient of the Indigenous Innovation Award – recognising Indigenous individuals and organisations who have made outstanding contributions to the RPAS sector. Award presented by Concordia University.
