Afreximbank Academy integrates PAPSS to enable local-currency payments for learning programmes
Afreximbank Academy (AFRACAD) has completed the technical integration of the @papss_africa Payment Gateway into its learning platform, enabling learners in participating African markets to pay for selected educational programmes in local currency.
The integration with PAPSS aims to make trade-related learning more accessible across Global Africa by reducing reliance on hard-currency payments, enabling eligible learners to pay in local currencies through participating financial institutions, and helping overcome barriers associated with foreign-currency access and international payment channels.

A competitive textile industry starts with a reliable supply of quality cotton.
In Ethiopia, irrigation, improved seed and efficient water use can help farmers manage erratic rainfall, stabilise yields and protect fibre quality. More dependable harvests also strengthen supply to local ginners, spinners and textile manufacturers.
Building resilience on the farm supports livelihoods and lays the foundation for retaining more value in Africa-from cotton to cloth.

Credit ratings influence who can access capital, at what cost and on what terms. Their credibility depends on rigorous analysis and a full understanding of the institutions being assessed.
Looking back at the launch of the Africa Credit Rating Agency (AfCRA) in Port Louis, Mauritius, Afreximbank’s Senior Executive Vice President, Mr. Denys Denya, underscored the importance of methodologies that accurately assess African institutions’ financial performance, legal frameworks and operating models.
AfCRA’s contribution will depend on independent analysis, reliable data and transparent methodologies. Broader coverage of sovereign, sub-sovereign, and corporate issuers can close information gaps, improve risk assessment, and deepen domestic and regional capital markets.
For Afreximbank, stronger credit analysis is essential to mobilising capital for African trade and industrialisation.
Watch highlights from the launch.

Today in history | 25 October 2025
One year ago today, Dr. @GeorgeElombi was sworn in as Afreximbank’s fourth President and Chairman of the Board of Directors in Cairo, succeeding Professor Benedict Oramah.
Having joined the Bank as a Legal Officer in 1996, his investiture marked a new chapter in nearly three decades of service to Africa’s trade and development.
His vision placed value addition and industrialisation at the heart of Africa’s transformation - processing more of the continent’s resources locally, building competitive industries and creating sustainable jobs.
Today, that ambition continues to guide our work towards an Africa that produces more, trades more and retains more of the value it creates.

Sometimes, the biggest impact of a new trade route isn’t what moves through it, but what changes because it exists.
For El Gondy Trading, one Egypt–Togo corridor meant 10% lower sourcing costs for the buyer and a proven path to 50+ African markets.

Africa’s resilience depends on stronger regional markets and greater capacity to produce locally.
