This is also a good time to mention that we are moving to fortnightly chats here at #agchatoz - happy for your input as always but we are going to give it a go and see how it pans out.
My greatest wish was granted at the #NationalAgRally.
I don’t agree with this lady (obviously) but she demonstrated more courage & commitment than @JulieCollinsMP, @AlboMP & @AnthonyChisholm
And she also went home after I gave her a shoutout for her efforts over the microphone. 😉

Why can't the sheep industry move to an eating quality grading system & ditch lamb/hogget/mutton terminology? Understanding QA/logistics challenges with unit size & volume, but surely it's solvable. Current tech doesn't seem to be there yet. #ausag#agchatoz
Many rural communities are interdependent, though that is being undermined by reduced populations. If Govts are serious about resilience then a long term commitment 2 rural health, education and infrastructure would be a good start.
Many urban areas need to build independence 2/
In my mind there are 2 key parts to building resilience, there is independence and interdependence.
Farmers have been and have needed to hone their independence over generations. Next phase is interdependence, for this to happen successfully it will take long term commitment 1/
This week:
- All but two shops flooded in Molong
- Eugowra destroyed
- Bathurst biggest flood in 25 years
- Cowra first 14-metre flood in 70 years
- Houses flooded in normally dry Parkes
- Forbes set to break records
- Condobolin already has
This is catastrophic (1/2)
Big shout out to the Australian Airforce, True North Helicopters and the SES for helping keep supplies up to our farm staff & local communities while we are cut off #NSWFloods
*opens Twitter for the first time since June*
Yep. Everyone is still angry out there.
To be positive - thanks @RFDSQld for your help last week. Miss 7 had a nasty horse fall and compound fractures. @qldhealth - your nurses in Chinchilla are amazing but drastically understaffed
Cotton is a biodegradable fibre that will break down quickly, versus synthetics which are polluting waterways at alarming rates and never break down 🤔

You’re not looking at leaves on a tree…
Every year huge flocks of budgies head to waterholes in the red centre to drink, feed and breed. The event is quite a sight/sound 🦜

A rarity to find black peat soil in the Esperance region, unfortunately only represents 0.8% of the paddock. Reminds me of the FAR trial site at Millicent @Pooley_Nick_FAR
Question. Who would be the best finance company to deal with to buy another property 2800 acres. Banks will lend me millions to buy machinery but not to expand my farming land. Any other young farmers had similar issues?
I really enjoyed having this chat with @Olilelievre. He does great stuff getting the word out about the good things in Agriculture with the @humans_of_ag podcast
