As an artist, when you play a character, you try to bring it to life from the bottom of your heart. And here, I am truly impressed by the conviction with which the struggle of a powerful man has been portrayed.
Maybe the plot and driving characters are not on the usual track on which most films travel, but that doesn’t mean the track is wrong. The effort that goes into telling a story, and the journey it takes from being a thought in the mind to becoming a film on screen, is humongous.
@TheNameIsYash sir, hats off to the way you have surrendered yourself to a character and a world that demands a larger-than-life performance. I could clearly feel that in every single scene.
It’s not easy to give the audience an experience of how guilt multiplies and increases the toxicity in life. I stand with you for attempting this daring experiment, sir.
We love you for the love you have for taking Kannada cinema to the global stage.

Just want to say this, @TheNameIsYash — you’ve genuinely tried something out of the box rather than taking the predictable route of making another regular, expected, formulaic follow-up to your previous commercial blockbuster.
It takes a different mindset, conviction, and most importantly, the guts to attempt something like this.
#Toxic is an unusual and commendable attempt. There are several portions that are genuinely intriguing and open to great debate, discussion, and learning.
Kudos to you for daring to experiment and step away from the conventional.
Bestest wishes, my friend. ❤️🤗

This is absolutely disgusting!
Who, in their right mind, would go to these lengths against a man who has put his heart, intent and everything into his work?
Disagreement is one thing. Deliberately targeting someone and paying to amplify negativity is something else entirely.
If there is a coordinated effort behind this, the people responsible should be exposed.
This isn’t criticism. This is an agenda. And it deserves to be called out.

holy fuck.
okay lots of thoughts. firstly, no this movie is NOT as horrible as people have been saying it is. can’t necessarily say it’s good either.
that being said, this movie clearly has a lot to say.
there are so many interesting ideas and commentary being spoken in this movie which in many ways the final execution doesn’t do it full justice. we see the life of a man be brutally torn apart from the moment his childhood was disrupted. how far can a person go into madness that was woven from torture? how much torture can a man explode on the ones around him and then ultimately bring it upon himself? lots of fascinating ideas that genuinely had the potential to be explored much more.
even the entire sister dynamic with nayantara itself had so much drama to be executed on. the movie has way too much going on and to a point feels beyond just character immersion. the entire first half had so much more scope to be tighter with a more developed love story. those bits and pieces deserved to be fleshed out. there are far too many montages that don’t move the story or even the character forward. after a point it got repetitive.
that being said, the movie itself is very crazy visual experience. beautiful gorgeous cinematography throughout, not a single frame felt like it was made taking the easy way out. it’s colorful, dark, and the camera moves as chaotically as our main character. the production design and costume design are spectacular as well and felt perfect for the era it was set in. absolutely hated the score. half of the annoyance that came to me was from how uninteresting and overtly loud the score was.
the final 30-45 minute stretch of the film is so good and the drama and reveals in that portion made the previous 2 and half hours actually worth it.
all the actors did great. kiara was fantastic and so was tara sutaria.
now yash, what a phenomenal performance. he gives one of the best lead performances in a commercial film in recent memory. he carries the screen presence and aura as naturally as he breathes, but adding to that the level of complexity a character like this requires he truly nailed it.
there was a great movie in here somewhere that deserved a much deeper and fleshed out execution. you can tell the hard work every craft here put and i can definitely say i wasn’t ever really bored even with an overtly long runtime.
