Unironically, I can see why some diaspora Muslims or converts act that way. They feel so out of place in their own home (the US), and they feel like everyone is against them, even though they’re just trying their best to be good people.

So when they’re presented with a world conflict, they naturally sympathize with the underdog. And when that underdog has a massive authoritarian propaganda machine behind them, sometimes they get so blinded by emotion that they take the propaganda as heartfelt truth.

At least that’s what I’ve felt from speaking to some of them. I generally know they’re good people who are trying their best, but I’ve always been repulsed by some of the views they end up holding.
