Amofin Akogun Seeks PDP Support, Advocates Generational Shift Ahead of House of Representatives Race
Barrister Joseph Titilope Akogun, popularly known as Amofin Akogun , has appealed to leaders and stakeholders of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) to embrace a new generation of leadership, describing it as the pathway to renewed hope, greater inclusion, and electoral victory.
Akogun, President of the BTA Foundation and an aspirant for the Irepodun/Ekiti/Isin/Oke Ero Federal Constituency seat in the House of Representatives, made the appeal while unveiling his vision for the constituency and outlining his development agenda.
In a statement obtained by Just Event Online TV
The legal practitioner, international businessman, philanthropist, and community development advocate said Nigeria remains a country of immense opportunities, stressing that empowering young people and women is critical to sustainable development and political success.
Reflecting on his interactions with residents across the constituency, Akogun expressed concern over what he described as growing frustration and hopelessness among young people.
"I have had several engagements with young people in my community, and what I see is anger, frustration, and hopelessness. Many of our people feel helpless because of the current situation in their environment," he said.
According to him, the challenges facing many young Nigerians inspired the establishment of the BTA Foundation as a platform to provide support and opportunities for vulnerable members of society.
The PDP aspirant maintained that elective office offers a broader platform to drive meaningful development, adding that he is prepared to deliver quality representation and secure victory for the party if entrusted with its ticket.
"I am confident that if given the privilege to fly the flag of our great party, the PDP, I will be fully committed to delivering victory for the party and quality representation for our people," he stated.
As part of his campaign promises, Akogun pledged to launch a large-scale empowerment programme that would provide ₦1 million each to 100 beneficiaries annually during his first year in office through a transparent selection process.
He said the initiative, valued at ₦100 million annually, would stimulate entrepreneurship, create jobs, and strengthen the economy of Kwara South over the course of a four-year legislative tenure.
The aspirant also identified the completion of the Ganmo–Eruku Federal Road as one of his top infrastructure priorities, noting that the project would improve transportation, enhance security, and boost economic activities within the constituency.
In the area of employment, he promised to establish a Job Bank Initiative aimed at ensuring transparent and equitable access to employment opportunities for constituents.
Akogun further announced plans to introduce a Pyramid Initiative designed to support elderly women and farmers, while also pursuing legislative efforts to facilitate the establishment of key federal institutions in the constituency.
According to him, the proposed institutions include an academic institution, a Federal Medical Centre, a Livestock University, a Farmers' Processing Hub, and a Job Creation Institution.
While acknowledging the enormity of the task, the House of Representatives hopeful expressed confidence in his ability to deliver legacy projects that would have lasting impact on the people of Irepodun, Ekiti, Isin, and Oke Ero Local Government Areas.
He described his aspiration as the beginning of "a new dawn" for the federal constituency and urged party leaders and residents to support his vision for inclusive development and effective representation.
We might not be able to do anything to him today, but it will be on record he was cautioned. His high - handed nature is extraordinary. Bashorun Gaa was not as worse!
