Over the past two days, an Omani and an Egyptian national have been executed on such charges.

Nine years ago, cleric Salman al-Odah was arrested after he tweeted for the “softening of hearts” of Qatar and #SaudiArabia’s rulers.

Even after the rift between the two countries has ended, he remains in prison, in solitary confinement.

Preacher Sulaiman al-Dowaish has been forcibly disappeared since his arrest in April 2016 after tweeting comments critical of King Salman and Prince Mohammed bin Salman.

His fate and whereabouts remain unknown.

Since his a last court appearance in August 2021, Abdulrahman al-Sadhan has again been forcibly disappeared by #SaudiArabia's authorities.

In an arbitrary assault on freedom of expression online, @X has complied with a request from the Saudi authorities to restrict our accounts from reaching audiences in Saudi Arabia, in a form of “geo-blocking”.

Many other accounts have been subjected to the same restriction.

This follows at least 100 accounts being rendered “unavailable” in Saudi Arabia at the request of Saudi authorities since 13 July.
