“We are Jewish writers, artists, and activists who wish to disavow the widespread narrative that any criticism of Israel is inherently antisemitic.” New: an open letter.

I have no doubt that you have good intentions but this feels like a post-hoc rationalization of a decision almost entirely dictated by non-rational factors. A year ago, the same EASP EC announced that "The Executive Committee of EASP fully supports the sovereign rights of the people of Ukraine and fully condemns the Russian attack on their country." How is this not political? Or did the EC get mandate to talk about this war in particular but not the others? If EASP had a change of policy in the very recent months (which obviously didn't happen), then should it declare that EASP EC does not stand with the people of Ukraine anymore?
The reasons why EASP chose not to comment on Israel-Palestine and completely ignored other conflicts like Yemen are exactly the same: The suffering group is psychologically distant and does not elicit enough empathy. If a non-European country declares war on a European nation and starts killing thousands of civilians, will EASP similarly say that they are not taking a stance on this? There is nothing rational about this. It is all tribalism.
I would not want to see any academic/scientific organization to pledge allegiance to any political organization. But they can, and should, contribute to the public debate within their own field of expertise. For example, do social psychologists have nothing to say about Israeli Defense Minister saying that they are fighting "human animals" while they are busy publishing their works on dehumanization and its dangerous consequences in fancy journals? There are plenty of social psychologists working on peace and conflict resolution and yet EASP has nothing to say when it comes to this particular conflict?
NEW: @UNHumanRights NY Office Director @CraigMokhiber resigns in protest over timidity of key parts of #UN system on issues pertaining to Palestinian Human Rights. In letter to @volker_turk he says: "This is a text-book case of genocide. The European, ethno-nationalist, settler colonial project in Palestine has entered its final phase, toward the expedited destruction of the last remnants of indigenous Palestinian life in #Palestine."
Veteran Haaretz journalist Amira Hass has reported from the Occupied Palestinian Territories for decades and says the Israeli public is "drunk with the will to take revenge" on Palestinians, spurred on by a far-right government dominated by "extreme fascist settlers."
Mass arrests in the West Bank and Palestinians with Israeli citizenship. Lawyers and doctors are even having their licenses revoked and arrested over social media posts.

"Delphi surveys" are common tool in STI policy. Countless projects assume this is THE tool to use. But STRINGS study showed how it's a poor fit for complex STI or #SDG policy work. See p. 84 for desirability and positivity biases pitfalls. w @AlaaAldoh https://t.co/GPaxAke6yg
