I took my first steps into politics #BecauseOfBernie. Tonight, like every day for the last few months, I am tired and frustrated and disappointed with our options.
We need to find the strength to continue to fight for left causes at the local and state level.
This is a kidnapping, and the police are not only allowing it, they are actively protecting the suspects. Each of them should be arrested for their role in this criminal act.
NYC is taking after Portland - a trans femme protestor was pulled into an unmarked van at the Abolition Park protest - this was at 2nd Ave and 25th Street
So will I get involved in politics again? Honestly, I'm not sure how to identify winnable battles right now, and so I'm not sure where I fit. That's where I stand today. (3/3)
Why have I been so silent lately?
Honestly, it stems from a deep existential dread that has developed through the pandemic as a significant part of our society turned against the basic concept of not literally killing each other. (1/3)
This isn't like earlier cultural clashes. An actual pandemic is being propagated intentionally. Wearing a mask is the easiest wartime request ever, but half the population wants to surrender to "own the libs." (2/3)
And just like that, we see why it's important to keep fighting.
Even in the face of a concession, they're still trying to silence progressives and reduce our influence at the convention.
Establishment Democrats have a disdain for democracy. Our job is to replace them.
As a national delegate for Bernie Sanders, I promise to be in Milwaukee fighting for a progressive platform.
Voters in the remaining states can strengthen our influence at the DNC. We need you to continue voting for Bernie.
#StillSanders -- Pass it on.
CEO: "I'm taking a paycut to keep these 45,000 people employed"
Media: "How brave!"
45,000 workers: "Wait, he was making more than ALL of us?"
#UnionYes
It is disappointing that we're at a place in our society where our elected leaders can do something this brazen without fearing a reaction from their constituents.
It is clear that accountability in our democracy is not functioning anywhere close to properly.
US Senator dumped a bunch of stock โ and invested in a remote work software company โ after a coronavirus briefing in January. https://t.co/QvrFIU5zj9
Something for the left to think abt. The reason everyone obsesses over the wants & needs of moderates is bc they r constantly threatening to vote for the other team/stay home. The party thinks the left will vote for them no matter what so we have 0 power & get treated like crap.
Things you can do regardless of who wins tonight:
- Join (or form) a union
- Join your local DSA (shout out @DSA_Cleveland)
- Vote and volunteer downballot
- Consider running for office
- Volunteer in your community
- VOTE BERNIE IN OHIO -- YES, STILL
The fight continues.
One of the biggest flaws in our current politics is the inability to look forward and decide what is best for the working class in the long term.
Instead, workers get short-term pandering in election years, and now we apparently can't even get that.
Even if replacing the current system with Medicare-for-All would briefly leave folks uninsured -- which it would not -- this would still be a necessary, life-saving, and fiscally responsible change.
The only valid response to "would you veto #M4All" is "Of course not."
A lot of folks make a great deal of drama over Bernie's health -- even though he released comprehensive medical records -- but he's still running an extremely vigorous campaign schedule.
#WhereIsJoe?
Do I hope Warren endorses Sanders? Of course.
Do I believe that many of Liz's supporters can find similar transformational policies in Bernie's platform? Absolutely.
Neither of these is an excuse to lecture people who are still cleaning out their desks.
It took me months to get over Bernie's loss in 2016. We fought hard and we believed in our candidate.
Anyone out here throwing Warren or her supporters under the bus because they're practicing good self-care needs to find a new movement. There's no room for you in this one.
