Since 2022, the number of small businesses in the WC has grown by 143,119. That's an increase of 55%. Small businesses are the engine room of our economy, which is why unemployment in the WC is lower than any other province. How can we help you? Call 0860 142 142.
Thanks @Cape_Chamber for hosting me today for an engagement on partnerships which emphasised the importance of public-private partnerships in support of growth, job creation & climate resilience. When govt and private sector work together, the economy grows.
📍Thembalethu, George - what a way to end the day!
Tonight’s walkabout brought together everyone who plays a role in keeping this community safe - Neighbourhood Watch, SAPS, and the Municipality. Safer communities are built together.💙
And when people feel safe, communities thrive - businesses grow, dignity is restored, and jobs follow.

On my way to Plettenberg Bay to meet with a group of residents affected by the storms, I stopped at a Vehicle Check Point on the N2.
Got to chat to a few road users, including a nurse heading home after a long shift.
These are the people our roads need to work for. Thank you to our officers out here doing exactly that, every day. 🙏

I met with farmers, business owners and residents in Oudtshoorn - listening to what these storms have really cost people here. Not just roads and bridges, but livelihoods.
Some of this restoration will take longer than others. We shared that clearly today.
Our teams are on the ground.
Swartberg Pass - reopening soon
Meiringspoort - assessments underway
R328 Cango Caves - work underway

Communities across the Western Cape are still feeling the impact of the recent storms.
That’s why we’re here today - on the ground, listening, and seeing it for ourselves.
Follow along.💙

It will cost more than R1 billion to repair damaged municipal and provincial infrastructure in the Garden Route District.
Meiringspoort alone is estimated to cost R500 million to rebuild.
We’re in George this morning for a full disaster briefing on the Garden Route storm damage - before going directly into the communities that are living it.
Next, we’re heading to Oudtshoorn to meet with impacted communities.
