Every artist, whether BTS or Bad Bunny, deserves access to the largest market without being filtered out or qualified. The solution isn't about getting rid of special markets or categories. Folk, for example, is a real thing, and if it benefits folk to have discrete awards and institutions, great. It's pop that needs to be examined, because pop is the biggest market and yet admission to it still seems largely subjective.
Artists and their managers should scrutinize record companies for the way they exclude artists from their pop departments. Labels and artists should challenge playlisters at streaming services and radio station programmers about how they wield the term "pop" for some but not for others. The Recording Academy should stop inventing new award categories, especially ones based on ethnicity, nationality or language, when people aren't asking for them every division separates its occupants from the larger, more profitable market. And if those Pop Performance awards or pop playlists cannot be defined musically or aesthetically, perhaps they shouldn't exist.

What BTS did isn't a boycott, y'all. Don't be misled by media outlets' poor word choices. A boycott is a withdrawal of support effective until a demand is met. BTS made no demands. This wasn't a negotiation. It was a repudiation. And it was the RA that burned the bridge, not BTS.
****Blindsided: Being caught completely off guard by an unexpected, usually unpleasant event, leaving you unprepared by something you DID NOT see coming.****
BTS blindsided everyone.
They moved in silence.
No one saw them coming.
Because so many other artists had their videos from 2021/2022 removed as well, this “expired license” may be true.
But who played who?
Now you can ONLY go to BangtanTV for the views of Butter & Dynamite 😏(and NOT the Grammys!)😏
Grammys are not getting any NEW performances from BTS…they literally have nothing.
I saw a post that said first video was removed by Grammys on July 19, 2026.
If that’s true, then it was 10 days before BTS announcement.
BigHit/ HYBE knew when licenses would expire.
BTS could have timed the announcement to:
*Coincide with them (BTS) now having exclusive viewership of Grammy performance on BangtanTV
*Confirming that no new performance would be coming to the Grammys by not attending / participating in Grammy 2027 show
*Gave Grammys a 30 day notice of their intention as consideration filings end August 28, 2026.
Either way, this was well played!!!!
I feel like Grammys were in a Run BTS episode and didn’t know it!
@SqSehrish I've seen the respectable answer here is 13 (11 sons which are brothers have *A sister). But I'd like to argue that by this same logic,,, the collective brotherhood, here, could then also have 3 sisters, 11 sisters, or 22 sisters but they'd each still have *a sister to refer to.
