District staff members spent yesterday with staff from the Albany County Department of General Services hydroseeding over 2 acres of exposed soil at the former Ann Lee Home in Colonie. #TeamAlbanySWCD

Sending out a huge thank you to Kristine Ellsworth and Gary Feinland from NYSDEC for providing a great compost education workshop here in Albany County. Over 50 individuals attended. Attendees received their own 43 gallon compost tumbler courtesy of the ACSWCD. #TeamAlbanySWCD
District staff members, Tonnie and Susan, spent today taking 32 soil samples and 3 compost samples for one of our Ag Environmental Management program participants. The results will be used to assist in the creation of a nutrient management plan for the farm. #TeamAlbanySWCD

The District recently wrapped up our Petroleum/Chemical Spill Kit Project for Municipalities and First Responders. We were able to provide 98 signs, 133 8-gallon duffle bags, 87 30-gallon barrels and 70 65-gallon barrels to 38 departments. #TeamAlbanySWCD
District Technician, Tonnie Sauca, snapped this photo of a leucistic European Starling outside our office. Similar to an albino, this bird lacks pigment needed to color the feathers. The recessive trait is rare making this find 1 in a million. #TeamAlbanySWCD
As a follow up to our Tree Assessment Program, the SWCD partnered with the Village of Ravena to plant 16 trees (5 different species), to ensure a diverse mix of species, in the dog park. The District provided the trees as well as planting assistance. #TeamAlbanySWCD
