Happy to have joined the Glen Williams Community Association yesterday for the raising of the Mississaugas of the Credit First Nation flag.
It was a beautiful evening and a great opportunity to connect with members of the community.
Great to stop by the newly reopened Tim Hortons last week alongside Acting Mayor Fogal to see the refreshed space and meet the team. Congratulations to everyone involved in the reopening, and thank you for continuing to serve the Acton community!
Excited to see these trees being planted across Town. These are part of the Town’s grant from the FCM Growing Canada’s Community Canopies program. I often hear: what can we do to make Acton look better when people drive through? Projects like this are a real answer to that.
Great to see so many volunteers at the Town’s “Be the Spark” Volunteer Appreciation event yesterday.
Thanks to Unstoppable Tracy for sharing such inspiring words.
There’s no better way to support your community than by getting out there and volunteering!
Happy to have attended yesterday’s Acton SNAP Launch. I sit on the Black Creek Advisory Group at the Town, which has been working alongside Credit Valley Conservation to help move this initiative forward, so it was great to see the project reach this milestone
Congrats to the North Halton Hospice (formerly the Townsend Smith Foundation) in exceeding their goal for Hike for Hospice today. There were three locations. Happy to join the Acton Hike with the St. Albans team. Great cause. Great spirit.
Even with the rain and cold, Halton Hills was busy today. I joined the Lucy Maud Montgomery Clean Up this morning, then went to the Annual Used Bike Swap. Per usual, 90% of the bikes were gone in the first 15 minutes! Every year it blows my mind. Great work to the organizers.
Joined other Councillors and the Mayor today at Town Hall to read a Proclamation for Halton Learning Foundation (HLF) Month. HLF provides essential supplies to families in need in the Halton District School Board so that finances do not become a barrier to their education.
Along with other Optimist Club members, I volunteered at the Halton Hills Egg Hunt this morning. The rain hit us hard but that didn’t stop the kids from getting their chocolate. Thanks to everyone who made the event a success. Happy Easter!
Dropped by “Cinderellas and Fellas” at Bethel Church where young people look for the perfect suit or dress. Congratulations to the organizers for another great success.
Had a great conversation today with Downtown Acton Chair Monica Parker-Galway and new Acton BIA Coordinator Ashley Drumm. We were able to share notes from my experience in the position and talk about the exciting plans they have for this summer. All the best, Ashley!
Yesterday, I spoke to a March Break Leadership Camp at the Acton Youth Centre. During it, I organized a Mock Election to hear about issues important to young people. It was inspiring to see young people already taking an interest. Very hopeful.
Learning about environmental stewardship - such as that currently being engaged in on Fairy Lake and in our local wells - at the Two Eyed Seeing and Ethical Space Training today with Councillor Garneau and Mayor Andrea Matrosovs from Town of the Blue Mountains.
Great Holi event once again at Norval United. Thanks organizer Aditee Goswami and family for putting on such a great community event. Unfortunately, I had other places I had to go so I couldn’t participate in the throwing of colours. Food was excellent!
Thanks to the Halton Hills Chamber for the Inaugural She Means Business event. Congrats to Margaret Wallis-Duffy on winning the She Leads award. I've been inspired listening to Margaret speak before on preventative health. Well deserved.
With the warmer weather, it was finally time to take down the holiday lights on the Acton Reading Deck. The BIA was also out getting their lights down. Thanks to everyone who helped put the display up. Starting to feel like spring!
Looking forward to the Coldest Night of the Year (CNOY) this Saturday. Proceeds in Acton go to the Roxy Centre which does all sorts of good work in town including hosting Food for Life, facilitating Community Dinners and being a place of gathering in our community.
