I get the sentiment and it is cold but putting scars on a character's back can look awesome and there are perfectly honorable ways to get attacked in the back. You could have been backstabbed or turned to defend someone behind you.
ZORO said scars on the back are a swordsman's shame but WHITEBEARD took that to a cosmic level.

I hope Luffy's strawhat is just a regular strawhat and not some magical key or an object with a superpower.
I'm okay with it having historical significance or being a symbol, I just don't want the hat to supernatural in some way.
