Is MDMA addicting? No. People who use MDMA take it infrequently. Is it harmful? No, risk of harm to person taking it is low.Even less risk of harm to others! So why is black market ecstasy a problem? Harm arises from too high dose or dangerous contaminants https://t.co/UZBbQfBxTz

[Alex Wodak AM @AlexWodak]

Ask Simon Chapman. He’s great supporter of quitting smoking cold turkey & very opposed to effective tobacco harm reduction eg vaping

[Jukka Kelovuori @jkelovuori]

I wonder why certain people in tobacco control are so adamant about quitting smoking "cold turkey"? It has the lowest odds of success.

[Pippa Starr - Let's Improve Vaping Education! 🇦🇺 @LivePippas]

“Calls for stricter cigarette and vape laws to rein in dodgy tobacconists”

Pro tip:
It was ridiculous laws that are already causing insane amount of destruction and black market domination!

Solution: low taxes on cigs and legalise vapes, evidence based education campaigns that encourage vaping as a safer alternative to smoking for adults.

It’s the only solution, like it or not!

Failure to implement equals more of the same problems only getting worse!

Suggest @NEDLAC_SA look out for paper appearing prestigious journal 5 weeks comparing Australia’s neo prohibition vapes favoured by Prof Emily Banks & pragmatic harm reduction in New Zealand with far superior outcomes

[Kurt Yeo @Kurt_Yeo]

The ongoing results of the Australian neo prohibition on ENDS (vapes). Unfortunately, Prof Emily Banks failed to include these outcomes in her presentation to @NEDLAC_SA.
Can 🇿🇦 afford an escalation in criminality & attacks on small businesses based on nonsensical legislation?

Daily cigarette smoking, US High School seniors, 2024: 0.4% !!! (it was 24.6% in 1997 !!!). Those who claimed that ecig use causes an increased chance of becoming addicted to cigarettes were mistaken.

[Alex Wodak AM @AlexWodak]

Forget about reducing nicotine level in cigarettes. That will simply provide enormous stimulus to black market. Instead, make vaping nicotine, heated tobacco products, snus and nicotine pouches more available, less expensive, more attractive than deadly cigarettes. Problem solved

[Matthew W. Johnson @Drug_Researcher]

Nicotine-reduction is an idea kicked around for decades in the tobacco research field. Most fellow tobacco researchers have vehemently supported this plan. Like Captain Ahab, they tend to be so focused on their goal that they are blind to the downsides. Below I post a couple of recent studies I published that should cause concern about moving ahead with this unprecedented policy. I predict we would see a massive expansion in black market cigarettes as a result of this policy.

This is very true and very important for a President to say. Once the oligarchy grips power, it is almost impossible for the people to take back power. Time is of the essence and we need to heed this warning.

[Robert Reich @RBReich]

The richest man on Earth, whose wealth has been heavily subsidized by billions of dollars in government contracts, spent a fortune putting Trump in the White House.

But it's not enough to just have the president's ear — now he'll have an office next to him too?

Oligarchy.

[Robert Reich @RBReich]

In April 2024, Trump asked Big Oil execs for a $1 billion donation in exchange for deregulation and tax cuts.

Who helped broker Trump's dealings with Big Oil?

Doug Burgum — who is testifying today before the Senate to be Trump's secretary of the interior.

See how this works?

[Alex Wodak AM @AlexWodak]

Shifting off Twitter to BlueSky. What a relief to depart from oligarch’s offensive politics. Why did it take me so long? Customer is sovereign. Best wishes to friends

I think it took a few hours for these pressure groups to react because they needed to coordinate a response that can be copied by all like-minded groups. I wonder if Truth Initiative will share this template soon?

If you want more tobacconist shop firebombings & shootings in public places as criminal tobacco warfare spirals out of control, support

➡️further increases sky high cigarette tax

➡️restricted availability much safer vapes

➡️oppose tobacco harm reduction
