@Gugugaga18786@TheHughAnthony@tomhfh@ZoomerHistorian Though it was not planned, nothing limits us from studying the factors that led to such outcome, learning from them, and applying these conditions elsewhere. I think religiousness is better than secularism, though I'm not religious myself.
@Gugugaga18786@TheHughAnthony@tomhfh@ZoomerHistorian Yes, White is synonymous with European. The first humans who arrived on the American continent never became White, so I have no idea what you are talking about.
@Gugugaga18786@TheHughAnthony@tomhfh@ZoomerHistorian I do apply it universally. Every Nation should be able to preserve their founding culture. Brazil, however, isn't a Nation itself, and the indigenous Nations never had sovereignty over it, unlike countries that were founded by a sovereign Nation, like China, Egypt, Germany etc...
@Gugugaga18786@TheHughAnthony@tomhfh@ZoomerHistorian Actually, we have other examples such as Scandinavian countries, which have massively dropped their religious levels in recent decades. This was (likely) caused by unplanned factors, but it shows us that it's entirely possible. Though secularism isn't really ideal, to be honest.
@Gugugaga18786@TheHughAnthony@tomhfh@ZoomerHistorian How does it fit? Well, it explains the exact causes of the problems we face. Brazil is a country, but it is not a Nation, so it doesn't really matter which culture prevails at the end of the day.
@Gugugaga18786@TheHughAnthony@tomhfh@ZoomerHistorian Why wouldn't I? It's especially relevant in genetics. We talk about 'White', 'black' etc, all the time, because they are relevant. Certain diseases are far more prevalent in certain racial groups, others in specific ethnicities, and some even particular to isolated groups.
@Gugugaga18786@TheHughAnthony@tomhfh@ZoomerHistorian Well, you can't imagine it because you are thinking it would be a 1984-style surveillance State society. In reality, this would be done gradually, with focus on incentives chains. The intent is to reduce them as much as possible, only zeroing exceptionally egregious things.
@TheAbramAustin@Prettyskyfru Empathy means understanding the thoughts of others. That's just it. You can understand their thoughts and still dehumanize them just fine.
@Gugugaga18786@TheHughAnthony@tomhfh@ZoomerHistorian I have succeeded in giving you a peaceful, top down example, many in fact. I can provide more, for example, the educational reforms here, which were pushed top-down and, eventually, accepted by the people.
@Gugugaga18786@TheHughAnthony@tomhfh@ZoomerHistorian It's commonplace everywhere, think Industrial Revolution, Meiji era, caudillismo, in Europe a ton of things from utensil use to clothing styles, and even the civil-rights you speak of... culture is often a product of top-down decisions from the elite and the intellectuals.
@Gugugaga18786@TheHughAnthony@tomhfh@ZoomerHistorian My country does, for example.
'Brown' is a very inclusive term, it can be useful, but it's not as accurate as the others, for sure. I name the continental group when I want to be more precise in that case.
@Gugugaga18786@TheHughAnthony@tomhfh@ZoomerHistorian It should be done by whichever way possible. But besides that, why would there be no way around it? It's entirely possible, actually, and it would be preferable over violent means.
@Gugugaga18786@TheHughAnthony@tomhfh@ZoomerHistorian This is a great tactic communists used to infiltrate and slowly manifest their ideal within the hegemonic structures that rejected their ideas at first, and it works.
@Gugugaga18786@TheHughAnthony@tomhfh@ZoomerHistorian An organized movement with a focus on taking hold of key positions of power in politics, institutions and education system to incentivize and promote their own culture in detriment of the undesired elements or influence of foreign cultural phenomenons.
