Alliance representatives were amongst the many making their voices heard at City Hall this afternoon.
We stand united against racism, hatred and all forms of intimidation.
Those in our health service from diverse backgrounds, who put us first in our most dangerous and anxious moments, deserve to be able to go to work free from fear and intimidation.
On behalf of Alliance, I was in Enniskillen this morning to show my solidarity with these workers.
Really proud to have tabled this EDM and led the previous petition. We cannot let our hospitality sector wither away- I'm fighting for it- it's too important not to!
Everyone was sickened by the barbaric incident on Monday night.
While most politicians stood together against hate and division, other politicians and malign actors from overseas chose to inflame tensions and weaponise fear.
@EoinTennyson
"It has been an utterly shameful week for Northern Ireland, what we had was a series of race based pogroms."
@MarkCarruthers7 asks @eointennyson what he thinks of the condemnation he's heard?
#BBCTheView
The horrifying attack that left a man with life-altering injuries sickened us all.
However, what has since ensued isn't about justice, policy or protecting communities.
It's about racism and we shouldn't give it any kind of legitimacy or respectability.
- @EoinTennyson
'Tommy Robinson and Elon Musk don't care about you!'
@EoinTennyson pleads to the people being 'whipped up by far-right agitators' to stop the violence in what he calls 'a third summer of race-based pogroms'.
Northern Ireland’s Justice Minister Naomi Long said there were people in Belfast “equipped to riot” on Tuesday night, and called attacks based on the “colour of people’s skin” unacceptable.
What happened on Monday night was deplorable and the individual responsible will deservedly face the full extent of the law.
This incident, however, is no excuse to terrorise innocent people and burn our communities to the ground.
@NualaMcAllister
Words matter and words are important. Especially when they come from elected reps. At times of tension you can choose to lead or you can choose to follow. You can choose to calm or you can use to fan the flames. What happened in Belfast last night was beyond evil. However the terrifying violence being inflicted on people and property tonight is sickening and honours no one. It is absolutely disgusting. It is scary and it is not who we are. People are being manipulated and used for clout whilst communities are trashed. They will walk away from the aftermath of violence and pain. Sinister forces are at work and we must call this out. All of us. No ifs no buts.
We are all reeling from the depraved and barbaric attempted murder last night. Justice will not be delivered by masked mobs, but through the courts.
The wanton violence engulfing our streets tonight is shameful, deplorable and utterly unjustifiable.
Terrorising innocent people, attacking homes, burning buses and destroying businesses serves only to create more victims, damage our communities and divert police resources.
It is clear that this horrific attack is being exploited by malign actors intent on sowing division, disorder and hate.
They have no interest in justice. Their goal is to inflame tensions, pit communities against one another and further their own narrow agendas.
We must stand against violence in all its forms, uphold the rule of law, and ensure that everyone can live in safety regardless of their background.
Those out creating disorder have no interest in keeping people safe. That’s completely clear from their violent actions.
We cannot let this kind of hatred and violence dictate what kind of society we live in.
The vast majority don’t support it.
It leads only to more pain.
"People do have a right to protest, but they have no right to do this at all."
As a bus burns in Belfast after being set on fire, Alliance Party politician Nuala McAllister condemns the method of protests some are partaking in, in the wake of last night's knife attack that has left a man in a serious condition in hospital.
I’m am disgusted at the destruction and violence that has taken to the streets on the Newtownards Road in East Belfast this evening
This serves no one, changes nothing and damages our community
Thoughts with Glider staff, residents + our PSNI officers facing down this violence
A very difficult day in North Belfast. Devastation for a family. Neighbours terrified. First respondents traumatised. A city on edge. Police stretched. Minorities fearful. Eerily quiet. Closed. Yet people ready to exploit the pain, fear and suffering for political advantage. Sad.
