We partnered with @Meta and Open Loop to host the Open Loop Sprint Kenya: Co-Designing Innovation-Enabling Pathways for AI. The working session brought together policymakers, regulators, industry leaders, academics, and tech experts to examine Kenya’s evolving AI landscape, explore emerging policy considerations, and identify practical pathways for fostering innovation through effective governance.
A key highlight of the event was a panel discussion on the future of AI policy in the country, exploring the governance frameworks, regulatory approaches, and collaborative partnerships needed to foster responsible innovation.
The conversation was expertly moderated by Ololade Shyllon, Director of Privacy and Data Policy (Africa, Middle East & Turkey) at Meta, who guided a thoughtful exchange on the opportunities and challenges shaping Kenya's AI landscape.
We extend our sincere appreciation to our panelists for sharing valuable insights on governance, innovation, and the critical role of multi-stakeholder collaboration in building an enabling environment for AI: Shikoh Gitau (Qhala), Joseph Githaiga (Spencer West), Amos Kosgei (ODPC), Pressy Akinyi (AmCham), and Prof. George Musumba (KICTANet).
We're grateful to all participants for contributing to a productive and forward-looking dialogue. We look forward to continuing the conversation and supporting policies that foster responsible AI innovation.

The AmCham Kenya Health Taskforce convened a high-level engagement with senior U.S. Congressional advisors, representatives from the U.S. Embassy in Nairobi, and leading American healthcare companies operating across Africa’s health ecosystem.
Participants included senior representatives from Thermo Fisher Scientific, Terumo, Roche, Pfizer, Siemens Healthineers, GE HealthCare, Hologic, IBM, Illumina, Abbott, Bayer, Cepheid Diagnostics, Cigna Healthcare, and Africa Health Network, reflecting a broad cross-section of expertise across diagnostics, pharmaceuticals, medical technology, digital health, healthcare financing, and healthcare delivery.
The discussion focused on the evolving U.S.–Kenya Health Cooperation Framework (HCF), the broader Africa Global Health Security Strategy (AFGHS), and the critical role of the private sector in advancing health security, innovation, and resilient healthcare systems across the region.
Industry leaders shared perspectives on opportunities for deeper public-private collaboration, the importance of integrating American innovation into health systems strengthening efforts, and the operational and regulatory barriers affecting implementation across Kenya and the wider region. Discussions also touched on preparedness and coordination around emerging regional health threats, including outbreak response readiness.
The engagement reinforced a clear message: achieving sustainable health outcomes in Africa will require stronger alignment between government, industry, and development stakeholders, with the private sector playing a central role in scaling innovation, expanding access, and strengthening long-term health resilience.
AmCham remains committed to serving as a convening platform that bridges policy, investment, and industry leadership in support of stronger U.S.–Kenya commercial and health partnerships.
