The changes we make to mitigate our risk of spreading #COVID19 can also bring about incredibly positive changes to the cultures of our schools. Whatever comes next for public education doesn't have to be a return to 'normal'. It can be something better than before.
Our webinar about the impact of #Covid_19 on #schoolsafety took an unexpectedly hopeful turn.
Now that #coronavirus has changed what schools "have to be" what opportunity does that create for educators to transform schools into what we WANT them to be? https://t.co/Sc53w1mPOX
Staggered passing period will make it easier to maintain 6ft of distance, but they will also make it easier for teachers to greet students and build relationships.

You know that nagging feeling you have? Those troubling questions: "...is this really what's best for kids?" "...couldn't we prepare in a way that wasn't so scary?" "I'm a teacher, not a cop..." Those quiet thoughts just got a bit louder... #schoolsafety https://t.co/qlpp8gtB7O

@NataliePeretti @DrAmyKlinger but the overarching concern is really one of pragmatism...requiring student IDs opens up administrators to a whole host of headaches, and additional work, and why? What real problem do student ID badges solve? I've never really heard any compelling arguments for their use.
@NataliePeretti @DrAmyKlinger My view on student ID badges- There doesn't seem to be much tangible 'benefit' and there certainly could be an unintended negative impact on school climate and culture.
@NataliePeretti @DrAmyKlinger Thanks for the kind words. I know we have talked about student ID badges in past livestreams, but I couldn't even begin to guess which one. Maybe @DrAmyKlinger has a better memory than I do...
