AMC Kickoff Night!

Tonight marks the start of the 2026 AMC season. One step closer to another unforgettable marching season filled with new music, bigger goals, and the mindset to keep pushing forward every day. Thank you to everyone that came out last night.

Yesterday our Amherst Steele Winter Guard performed at Marion Harding High School, placing fifth of ten teams in their classification (SRA). This capped off a very successful inaugural season competing in OIPA. Congratulations to the team and their director, Ms. Burke!

Congratulations to our Steele Jazz Band I for their performance at the Tri-C JazzFest Educational Downbeat Day with the Count Basie Orchestra! In addition to their performance, students participated in jazz workshops and learned about Tri-C’s arts programs.

It was a big weekend for our band program at the OMEA District 4 Large Group Adjudicated Event! Congratulations to our Steele Symphonic Band and Wind Ensemble on their I “Superior” ratings as well as our AJH 8th Grade Band and 7th Grade Band on their II “Excellent” ratings!

Due to weather conditions, Amherst Schools are closed tomorrow. There will be NO SCHOOL for Amherst on Monday, January 26th. All after-school activites and practices are canceled as well. We’ll need all day tomorrow to dig out our buses and clear snow properly. Please stay safe!
