A credible democracy cannot exist without credible institutions.
Speaking with @KaylaMegwa on @channelstv, I explained why Nigeria must urgently pursue electoral reform, judicial reform, improved security, and the protection of freedom of speech.
I also used the incarceration of @elrufai and the imposition of impossible bail conditions to illustrate why judicial reform has become an urgent national conversation.
As we continue to advocate for reforms, let's also strengthen our democracy by participating in it. If you're 18 or older and haven't registered to vote, now is the time to do so. Register, collect your PVC, and make your vote count.

Yesterday, I spoke on @channelstv about the importance of voter registration ahead of the extended deadline of Friday, 24 July 2026.
If you are eligible to vote, register on your smartphone through @inecnigeria's CVR portal at https://t.co/xLdKAl8qtj. That is all you need to do before the deadline.

Today, GoNigeria releases a statement calling on every eligible Nigerian, particularly the millions of young people who have turned 18 since the last general election, to register to vote before the 24 July 2026 deadline.
Over the past few weeks, GoNigeria has been actively engaging young Nigerians through sustained on-the-ground outreach and across a range of media and digital platforms to make voter registration information more accessible. This work will continue in the days ahead.
While voter registration is the immediate priority, it is only one part of GoNigeria's broader mission, anchored by our four foundational pillars: electoral reform, the protection of freedom of speech, judicial reform, and the security of life and property.
I encourage you to read the full statement. If you are eligible to vote, please register before the deadline. If you know someone who is eligible but has not yet registered, encourage them to do the same.

You sit and complain about bad government every day and how there should be a change in leadership, yet you don't have a PVC?
How do you intend to effect the change you so desire? How do you intend to elect the right people into office when you don't even have access to vote?
Please, while you're analysing the state of the nation, it's important that you go and register for your PVC if you haven't, so we can vote when it's election period. 🧎#GoNigeria #CollectYourPower
Whether you like it or not, your votes matter. Please don’t give up on the country, we have to vote in the next election.

I joined a Panel at a recent Wealth Conference in Lagos and spoke about @Anap_Jets
(see Video) and explained why we are a smart way to fly private in our sub-region and from our West African sub-region to Europe, Africa and the Middle-East https://t.co/RLcFFLMHrm
At the recent Lagos Private Wealth Conference, our Chairman, @AtedoPeterside, shared insights on Fractional Ownership, Jet Cards, Adhoc Charter, Aircraft Management etc.
Video below captures his contributions to the Panel discussion:

On this Democracy Day, I remain convinced that Nigeria's future is best secured through democracy, strong institutions, and active citizen participation.
For many years, I have spoken about the importance of protecting the integrity of our democratic process. Democracy is weakened when citizens lose faith in elections. It is strengthened when people participate and trust that their voices matter.
That conviction inspired the creation of GoNigeria.
As we look ahead to the 2027 General Elections, I encourage all eligible Nigerians, especially the youth, to register to vote, collect their PVCs, and prepare to participate.
Democracy cannot be taken for granted. Every generation must understand it, value it, and play its part in defending it.
I remain optimistic about Nigeria and our collective ability to build a stronger democracy for future generations.
Happy Democracy Day, Nigeria.
How can the result of a Party Primary emerge even before it has taken place? @iamHSDickson@PeterObi@KwankwasoRM
and others in the @NigeriaNDCHQ should note that their every action in the NCD Primaries is being watched by thousands of Nigerians. Tis one thing to complain about undemocratic practices when you are the victim. Dishing out the same stuff to @AishaYesufu or any other aspirant will destroy your growing credibility before it even blossoms
I joined @charlesaniagolu on his Prime Time @ARISEtv to discuss Nigeria's multiple crises: a Judiciary who only grant speedy hearing to sponsored 'gamers' of the system who jump queues while others wait endlessly for justice; an orchestrated drift towards a 1-party state assisted by @INEC and the Judiciary; an economy threatened by a severe fiscal imbalance, rising costs on account of USA-Israel/Iran War (incl over 150% increase in Aviation Fuel Prices in one month), State Capture & Corruption + leaders who refuse to lead by example re Belt-tightening etc https://t.co/8uZ32u5K5F
I’d like to give a special shoutout to @savvynigerian, a talented young Nigerian who created a beautiful tribute to the IBTC/@StanbicIBTC story without being commissioned by anyone.
This video was brought to my attention by young people who saw it circulating on social media. It is amazing to see how our youth are now creatively using tools like AI to tell stories based on publicly accessible information only.
I doff my hat to you.
Our President & Founder @AtedoPeterside will be speaking with @pokigbo tomorrow (Wed 08 April) at 3.00pm on the topic, When Trust Runs Dry: Rethinking Governance in Nigeria.
Register via link on flyer below to tune in & join the conversation. @The_Nextier
Nigeria’s democracy rests on four pillars: electoral reform, judicial reform, freedom of speech, and the security of life and property.
Electoral reform is foundational. Credible elections strengthen legitimacy, institutions and governance.
Today, @GoNigeriaNG released a statement on why electoral reform matters now more than ever.
#ElectoralReform #Democracy #Nigeria
Some of us have watched in disbelief as Government Agencies that we respected, such as @icpcnigeria@OfficialDSSNG and @officialEFCC, appear to have conspired to incarcerate @elrufai without charging him to Court, thereby violating the spirit & letter of the Nigerian Constitution.
Even though I disagreed with @elrufai as Kaduna State Governor over El-Zakzaky’s 2019 detention (see tweet below), I will still speak out against those ill-treating him today. Two wrongs do not make a right.
If I am ever incarcerated, I will be at peace with my Lord, even if nobody calls out the authorities on my behalf.
At various times, when MKO Abiola, General Obasanjo, @DeleFarotimi, @sowore and several others were incarcerated, I spoke out for them.
One day, the Lord will deliver us from wicked leaders.

Today, I signed and released a Statement on behalf of GoNigeria and our 24 Advocates outlining the need to expand our mandate to include electoral reform, freedom of speech, judicial reform, and the security of life and property.
Building a durable democracy in Nigeria requires more than periodic elections. It requires strong institutions and protected rights.
Atedo N. A. Peterside is one of Nigeria’s most respected bankers and entrepreneurs and the founder of what is today Stanbic IBTC Holdings PLC.
Peterside founded Investment Banking & Trust Company (IBTC) in February 1989, at age 33, with a clear vision: to build a bank grounded in ethical practices, professionalism, and integrity, even in a crowded banking industry.
He led IBTC from a small investment bank into one of Nigeria’s most trusted financial institutions, long before it merged with Stanbic Bank to form Stanbic IBTC in 2007.
Under Peterside’s leadership, IBTC thrived and expanded, ultimately becoming a leading full-service financial institution with subsidiaries spanning banking, pensions, asset management, stockbroking, trusteeship, insurance, and more.
His strategic approach and ethical backbone helped set high standards for corporate governance in Nigeria’s financial industry.
In recognition of his immense contribution to the banking sector, Peterside received a Lifetime Achievement Award at the African Banker Awards in 2022, where he highlighted the importance of building a shared culture and values across the organisation.
Even years after transitioning out of executive roles, his legacy continues to inspire business leaders and young entrepreneurs across Africa.
✔ Inspiring takeaway: He started with a bold vision, built a bank renowned for integrity and excellence, and then structured it to succeed beyond his tenure — a true blueprint for sustainable leadership and entrepreneurship.
