@sarah_federman I like a daily standup if done well. Small, focused team and some light banter to make it more enjoyable. Can be soul sucking if part of a large team with everyone working on different things.
@hpdailyrant Random person you don’t know here 😄Your content has helped me feel that I’m not completely crazy for having similar perspectives. So thanks!
As a designer you can get caught up in whether you’ve got the ‘right’ solution. But what’s more important is if you’ve taken the team/stakeholders on the journey to get there and got buy in to take it to the next stage #ux#agile#design
I find the idea of ‘perfection’ to be fascinating. It’s a driver that pushes people to achieve more than good enough. But is also a destructive force that results in people feeling like they have failed when this imaginary bar isn’t met. #ux#design
Too many cooks spoil the broth. Whereas too many stakeholders ensure the broth is delayed and then when it finally comes out it is unappealing. Plus the restaurant over the road is now serving all the diners. #design#ux#agile
Reviewing a proposed design and brain goes into overdrive - does that solve the problem? is it elegant? will that work responsively? will the developers be able to build it? is it testable? or would it be valuable to spend the time solving another problem? #ux#design#agile
It’s not perfect, but am a believer in ‘strong opinions, loosely held’. Important to stand up for your assumptions, but also critical to change your mind based on data or new knowledge #ux#design#agile
As the team has transitioned to now having designers, we’ve encountered new challenges. There becomes a temptation for everything to become a design problem. Rather than designers involved in every tiny decision, the team needs to be empowered to make design decisions #ux
So everyone describes themselves as agile. Yet there is often a strong pull to implement waterfall like processes. I find the tension between the two fascinating. #agile#design
The team has reached the point of not getting too excited when we have a good design solution in one form factor (eg desktop). Cause then we still need to work out a consistent/cohesive UX on other form factors (eg mobile) and a bunch of tradeoffs to work through #design#ui#ux
I work on puzzles every day 🧩 Puzzles that look similar to other puzzles previously solved, but different enough that a unique solution is required. Sometimes the puzzles are easy. Sometimes the puzzles take months to solve. #ux#design#responsive
Major transformations of older, existing software can be challenging as there is a bar of functional/working solutions, ones that often stakeholders are heavily invested in. It’s super exciting when you take them on the journey and create something even better! #ux#design
Used to feel out of place in a room full of devs and BAs who had detailed, intricate knowledge of the domain/systems. Eventually I realized one of the key skills I could bring is stepping back and taking a higher level view. Will the solution solve a core user need? #ux#design
