Sobering projections of the #BVD outbreak in #DRC published in MMWR. Without rapid effective disease control interventions, this could turn out to be the largest BVD outbreak with thousands of cases & deaths over the next 3 months.

Lots of public interest & fears around #hantavirus risk of the returning travellers. However, the other ongoing risk that needs addressing is from potentially infected rodents imported (legally & illegally) from endemic regions. Breeders & fancy rat owners are at particular risk
FWIW, I don't think the multi-agency response to #meningitis in #Kent was delayed. If anything, it has been swift, especially when you consider the complexity of the situation, the painstaking investigations & tests that need to be done, plus organising antibiotic dispensing.

The end of US foreign aid and implications for global health?
The pivot to protectionism imperils efforts to protect & promote global health that require collaboration & solidarity.
