2025-2026 DISTRICT 2 CLASS 5A BOYS’ CHAMPIONS 🏆 Abington Heights Comets
FINAL SCORE
Abington Heights 57
Crestwood 37
Four straight.
@AHCometsBBB pulled away in the second half to defeat Crestwood and secure its fourth consecutive District 2 Class 5A championship. The Comets led 37-27 at the end of the third quarter before closing strong to seal it.
Jordan Shaffer (@jordanshaffer0) and Andrew Kettel (@andrew_kettel14) got to work when it mattered most. Shaffer finished with 17 points, 18 rebounds, and 2 blocks — one rebound shy of the Mohegan Arena regulation record. Kettel added 16 points, 5 steals, and 3 assists in a complete two-way performance.
Miles Metz (@MilesMetz29) led Crestwood with 14 points.
The win also marks redemption in this matchup. Crestwood’s last district title came in 2021 via forfeit when @AHSDAthletics was unable to field a team due to COVID-19 protocols following the semifinal. This time, it was settled on the floor.
Head coach JC Show (@jokercat12) improves to 2-for-2 in district championship appearances in his first two seasons at the helm.
History for the Comets:
- 17th district title in program history
- 14th title in the past 19 seasons (since 2008)
- 4th straight championship
2023 – West Scranton
2024 – Dallas
2025 – Pittston Area
2026 – Crestwood
