Student populations are very diverse. Every community is well represented. Every religion, gender, sex, race, ethnicity, nationality, culture, orientation & ways of knowing. Making kids & staff feel unsafe is not cool.
Today: choose compassion & harmony.
It saves lives 🌈🙏🏿♥️.
Indigenous family.
Solidarity❤️🧡🙏🏿
Walking alongside y’all.
Listened to many elders this week.
Deep reflection.
The truest form of patriotism, is making things right.
First Nations, Métis, Inuit, we love you all❤️🧡🙏🏿.
Will continue to advocate, listen, & call for action.
What is systemic racism?
How does the silencing of diverse voices manifest itself in institutions?
What is controlled representation?
Who is given the privilege of narrating the voices of the marginalized?
If oppressors control how the oppressed, express: who is heard?

Praying for families of children that went missing; passed away very early in their journeys. Lives cut short, facing challenges most will never understand.
Special needs, Racism, wars/genocides.
Silence🕯️that deserves voices speaking up/out for them.

Proud of the Shep grads today. Y’all set the bar so high that all of us had no choice but to follow in your footsteps.
Continue to lead, grow, create, build, care, overcome, understand & resiliently triumph.
One chapter finished, new chapter begins.

Muslim family.
Beautiful human beings.
Soulful, caring, giving, hard working, wise, kind.
The acts of violence fuelled by Islamophobia in North America (or anywhere) is unacceptable.

The sacrifices our ancestors made.
The Youth & how committed they are to the future.
The innovators, artists, revolutionaries & the spiritually in tune/aware.
The Allies, not afraid to walk alongside us.

Heck of a year for teachers, almost halfway there, but still, it’s been a journey.
I salute y’all.
For demonstrating exceptional professionalism, courage & love.
Public education still matters.
To the culture in this game: I see you. The ancestors are still with us.

Convo with a ref during a very heated game. Score clock getting rebooted, ref looks at me, says "you can fix this, it's your school", kindly replied "actually I'm a Thunderbird now"
Words have power.
Great time at Lazerte.
Congrats to our squad.
More flights ahead of us 🦅♥️🏀

Proud of the coaching staff/players. Lots of learning & decisions. Very good players at tryouts, but we are choosing the best mix of athletes that can be leaders on & off the court. All players that didn’t make it please continue to love the game.
Rest up, back to work Monday.
