Uttarkashi: 136 trekkers stranded in the high-altitude Gaumukh region amid snowfall and rain.

A helicopter aerial survey is planned today, followed by a rescue operation if weather conditions improve. 121 trekkers were safely evacuated from the Gaumukh area on Sunday.

Why don’t trekkers check the IMD weather alerts and forecast before heading into high-altitude areas? There was a red alert for two days!!

Record 17th Judge Recuses Himself from IFS Officer Sanjiv Chaturvedi’s Case

Another judge has recused himself from a case involving IFS officer Sanjiv Chaturvedi. Justice Rajveer Singh Verma of the Delhi Bench of the Central Administrative Tribunal (CAT) has recently withdrawn from hearing the matter.

The case relates to a November 2021 order of the Uttarakhand government concerning the process for preparing Annual Confidential Reports (ACRs) of IFS officers. Chaturvedi has challenged the order, also referring to a May 2025 Supreme Court judgment in his petition.

With Justice Verma’s recusal, 17 judges have now recused themselves from different cases involving Chaturvedi, according to the details available in the case records.

The figure includes 2 Supreme Court judges, 4 judges of the Nainital High Court, 9 CAT judges and 2 judges from the district judiciary.

Among those who have recused themselves are Nainital High Court judges Justice Alok Verma, Justice Ravindra Maithani, Justice Manoj Tiwari and Justice Rakesh Thapliyal. The recusal orders in several of these matters do not state a specific reason for the judges’ withdrawal.

Dairy Business Led A 19-year-old Woman Become Kidnapper?

A 19-year-old woman, Chahat alias Annu, has been arrested for allegedly plotting an attempt to forcibly abduct a woman on Sahastradhara Road in Dehradun. Four other accused are reportedly absconding.

According to police, the alleged motive was a ₹7.5 lakh financial dispute linked to a dairy business. Annu and Deepak had purchased an 11-cow dairy from Sushma Verma.

Police say a dispute arose over the cows producing less milk than expected and the recovery of the money invested in the dairy.

The accused allegedly rented a car and went to Sahastradhara to intimidate Sushma and force her into the vehicle. She raised an alarm, prompting locals to approach, after which the accused fled.

Four others named by police: Deepak, Sushant alias Lucky, Aditya Vashisht and Priyanshu.

On June 24, 2025 ECI announced SIR will be done across the country, starting with Bihar. On July 28, 2025 I filed an RTI application seeking a copy of all the files vide which the decision to initiate SIR across the country was approved by the ECI. The matter went up to the First Appellate Authority- the Principal Secretary of ECI who in his order stated- “appellant is informed that the Commission has so far not taken any decision on initiating a Special Intensive Revision (SIR) across the country in 2025.”
So the question really is - who took the decision to undertake the SIR?

A woman returning home after dropping her daughter for the college bus was allegedly stopped by two men in a black Swift, who tried to forcibly pull her into the car. CCTV captured the incident. The accused fled after she raised an alarm. Police have formed 3 teams to trace them.
