🤯 The government have announced that university tuition fees in England will increase every year in line with inflation from 2026.
🧑🎓 Education should be a right, not a privilege.
💚 That's why the Green Party would scrap tuition fees altogether.
TTF Turns Ten: A Good Time to Reflect on our Past and Plan for our Future
🗓️Tuesday 6th May
🕒6pm-7:30pm BST
📍Zoom
We’re very pleased to invite you to a special TTF event, all about us turning ten years old!🥳
It’s a great opportunity for us all to reflect on our past, and plan for our future.
We’ll be discussing the rollercoaster journey from our first meeting on 6th May 2015 to where we are today, considering the progress we've made, the lessons learned, and the challenges we still face.
We will be sharing the principles that have guided our work, and the surprising shifts in thinking that have shaped the TTF's areas of focus and impact; in particular our latest thoughts on the industry and Financial Conduct Authority.
This milestone event will also offer a candid discussion on the philosophies of Enlightened Self Interest and how industry motivations have influenced our mission. It will be an opportunity to examine the growth of TTF from a pro-consumer but industry-centric entity to a pro-consumer, consumer-centric movement; and to consider what lies ahead for the next decade.

🗣️ Andy Agathangelou says:
“Without doubt this was one of our most important TTF events ever! Huge thanks to all involved. We’re working on the next steps now.”
“In power, Labour’s agenda has been stripped back to an empty obsession with growth & an imitation of Reform UK. The public isn’t falling for it”. Spot on @johnharris1969. People deserve better than a govt with no conviction, no hope & no vision https://t.co/bnI3AqjUYS
"So let me get this straight right, the government fines the water companies for gross mismanagement and the consumer foots the bill."
@JonathanPieNews nails it. As always. Bravo sir. 👏👏👏

IMHO @Moneybox has done an excellent job to report the 'incompetent at best, dishonest at worst' story on @TheFCA.
It has reported in a fair and balanced way, not easy given the strength of the evidence against @TheFCA in the report: https://t.co/Y1QHLYQj9l
This press statement by @appgonifandffs is useful for a quick overview of what this is all about:
https://t.co/QaYqNFwVW5
And these comments by Parliamentarians shouldn't be ignored by anybody, especially I'd respectfully suggest the members of @CommonsTreasury: https://t.co/uScRy70AVG
Also, I think the speech by @BobBlackman that he delivered in Parliament on Tuesday also sums it all up very well; and note his concern that @TheFCA may just respond in a defensive way, perhaps trying to infer that 'there's nothing to see here, all our mess has been cleaned up already' when in fact the report makes it crystal clear that the evidence points to ongoing, contemporary 'here and now' issues that show @TheFCA's so-called Transformation Programme has been a failure. https://t.co/bF7Q1vBJcM
It will be interesting to learn whether those who tune in to @Moneybox just after midday conclude @TheFCA is incompetent and/or dishonest, or whatever they think.
The overall purpose of the @appgonifandffs's evidence-gathering exercise was to get the facts about what people think, and its's done that in an honourable way.
But if anybody doubts the findings in the report just go to @TheFCA's Trustpilot Reviews, which I believe makes it a matter of 'lots and lots and lots and lots to see here': https://t.co/wwKW2rxTxG
@appgonifandffs may run a Q&A on all of this online e.g. on Zoom in the next week or two - use this to let it be known if you would like to attend/contribute to the debate; especially relevant if you have had any dealings with @TheFCA in the last 12 months or so; whether they be good, bad or ugly:

Thanks again @Moneybox for raising awareness in a fair and balanced way.
Tune in now folks, starts soon!
Whatever happened to the ‘rule of law’ in the UK?
Most people can't afford legal advice or pay for lawyers. Only the rich/corporations can afford to go to the courts.
There can be no equality before the law unless there is equality in access to the law.

Evidence shows importance of greater access to nature, so cuts to England’s national parks are short-sighted & self-defeating. Instead Govt should reform them, give them a strong nature recovery focus & recognise their contribution to health & wellbeing https://t.co/eHKu2Oo2Sq
Many thanks to @FTAdviser and ace reporter @alina_khan2001 for covering this story. In my opinion, this story is basically about @TheFCA not doing its job properly, i.e. not properly acting on actionable intelligence given to it, and consumers being misled as a consequence of it.

Went to a lovely, serious art gallery in Sherborne yesterday and met the delightful Mark Jerram. I'll have some work showing there very soon. The Jerram Gallery. Check it out https://t.co/Ya0fRhEaPR #artistsontwitter
Despite the weather we are currently outside @TheFCA’s headquarters for our “Rally for Better Financial Regulation” following their Annual Public meeting that took place this morning from 10am-12pm.
We’ve had speeches from @SueFlood52 Jasthi Alom and Andy Agathangelou.
Speeches from Paul Birch, Nigel Cairns and Jasthi Alom to come!
We are protesting because @TheFCA is not fit for purpose and needs to be reformed or replaced!
