I think the confusion is because there was two different things going around and they got mixed up.

One is a draft anti online violence law. That one is still a draft open for public comments. It has no start date and it is not in effect yet.

The other one is this. It's signed, it's dated, and it starts September 1st. Five government bodies issued it together. It's about MCN services.

So what is an MCN. It stands for Multi Channel Network. They're agencies that manage creators. They run or help run the account, make content, get brand deals, and take a cut. The big ones handle thousands of accounts. So if an account is big and monetized, there's a decent chance an agency is behind it.

Who it applies to: the agencies, the platforms, and the creators who are signed to an agency. If they are a normal user with no contract, this doesn't apply.

What starts on September 1st:

Platforms have to show the agency name on the profile page of every account signed to one. If the account doesn't show it, the platform warns them, and after that it can limit the account's features and cut off its monetization.

Agencies have to be properly registered and licensed, and name someone responsible for content.

Agencies have to verify the identity of whoever is running the accounts they sign.

Platforms have to open complaint channels specifically about these agencies.

And there's a list of things agencies and their signed creators can't do. A few of them:

making up topics, using fakes or spliced clips to confuse people, or digging up old negative stories to mislead

stirring up people's emotions and pushing groups against each other

making up backstories or personas for fake or misleading marketing

faking followers, views, votes, traffic, or mass posting the same content over and over

organizing, inciting, joining or helping online violence

Also no livestream publishing for anyone under 16, and 16 to 17 needs ID plus a guardian's permission.

If they break it, platforms can warn them, cut monetization, close accounts, kick the agency out and blacklist it. Fines run from 10,000 to 100,000 yuan, up to 200,000 in serious cases.

So, if a big account is signed to an agency, that agency’s name now shows on its profile, the agency answers for what the account does, and the platform can cut its monetization or drop it entirely. And running coordinated hate campaigns is literally on the banned list now 👌🏼

It doesn’t reach accounts that aren’t under contract. But for the ones it does reach, this stops being free. A lot of them are going to think twice before September 1st, because now there’s something real to lose.

We need to stop pretending that everyone who wants to put more pressure on Infold is automatically a troll or someone sent by competitors.

Every boycott eventually splits into moderate and radical groups. That's a normal dynamic for movements like this. People simply have different approaches and different red lines.

We really do have people whose position is "6 or 0." They're real members of this community with their own convictions, not imaginary provocateurs. You don't have to agree with their tactics, but dismissing them as trolls is unfair.

Despite all our disagreements, we still share the same goal: bringing Valko back. We just have different ideas about how to get there. Some believe a more measured approach is better, while others think maximum pressure is the only way to achieve results. Neither you nor I can say for certain which path is the right one. So instead of fighting each other, we should remember why we're here in the first place.

By constantly criticizing everything other people do, we’re just going to make them not want to participate at all. Okay, they’ll leave and stop doing whatever it is you don’t like. People who are tired of seeing constant arguments on their feed will leave too.

Will that really be better for the boycott?
Fewer people means fewer voices. It’ll be easier to drown us out, and easier for PPG to ignore the whole situation. A lot of people in this movement never stopped playing anyway. It’s way easier to tempt them into spending on a hot new card than to bring back people who already left.

Please, just accept that not everyone here thinks the same way. We can fight about everything else later, when Valko is back.
For now, we have a common goal, so let’s try to be a little more understanding of each other

My two cents to the whole situation.

I’m kinda getting tired of the infighting that seems to have increased this week. 🫠

I am aware the GC makes everyone tense, especially in terms of how we could show our support for Valko.

I’ve said it before and I will say it again. After almost two months of silence, we probably won’t always agree on the same methods for protesting. People are reaching their limit which is understandable.

Many are unhappy with the truck’s wording. I am too. It just didn’t feel like the right message we want to send in the name of Valko. Also I was miffed after one of people who was organising this got called out but apparently didn’t care what it would mean to drive something like this around in Germany.

Obviously I also noticed others seeing nothing wrong with the trucks wording, since we have been “playing it nice for too long.”

I have to admit, I didn’t even immediately notice the wording properly till it was pointed out. Afterwards I was rather surprised that >>this<< is the message they want to pass along. Oh well.. 🫩

Realistically, I don’t thjnk too many outside of the fandom would even care about it. At least I don’t imagine them reading much past the first line…

So yeah. I don’t know. Don’t hurt your pretty heads over it too much. This won’t hurt our progress. The antis already hate us anyway. They might use it against us but at this point why listen to them anyway.

THIS IS IMPORTANT — please read this post.

The truck has caused a lot of noise. I want to talk about it here.

Disclaimer up front: I don't personally support the wording on the truck (I'll explain my position below), but I don't dismiss that point of view either — it has a right to exist. I also don't count myself as part of any camp, neither the overly positive side nor the overly radical one. Not because I can't make up my mind, but because I believe that with something like a boycott you need different tools depending on the situation: peaceful levers as well as critical ones. I've always said, and still say, that we should adapt to circumstances rather than hold one rigid line. And I don't support dividing people, because our goal is the same. Nobody is seriously trying to destroy Infold — people are trying to apply pressure the company can't ignore and has to respond to. Whether you agree with that is up to you. But this boycott doesn't belong to any one with the more "correct" opinion.

I'm writing this to lower the emotional temperature and put facts ahead of feelings, which is what I've tried to do this whole time. I know everyone is tired. I'm tired too. So I just want to state my position. Whether you agree with it is your right.

First, I want to reassure the people who think this truck will stop Valko from coming back, or that it will "kill" Infold. If a company like that dies because of one truck, then that company doesn't deserve your money or your time, believe me. And if that argument doesn't work for you, let me just remind you that they were once caught up in a scandal involving Taiwan and survived it, and went on to release LADS. For a Chinese company, Taiwan is incomparably more dangerous than any truck could ever be — it's close to a red flag in itself. One truck with wording like this is hardly going to do them serious damage.

And yes, I understand the other concern: that "cyber m@$der" can be misread by people who aren't in the context, and served up by the press as hysteria. That risk exists, and I'm not going to pretend it doesn't. But it's smaller than the harm we're doing to ourselves by tearing into two camps. We can survive a bad headline. We cannot survive losing half the people in this.

It's also worth remembering that some people who aren't following any of this — not antis, just outsiders — decided long ago that the whole thing is ridiculous. They laughed at "a boycott over a few pixels," and at people donating to wolf sanctuaries, because wolves "should live in the wild, not in a shelter." I've seen those messages, guys, and there were plenty of them. No wording will change these people's minds — soft or harsh. Their opinion should not be the reason we fight each other and lose our way.

Second, I'm asking people to refrain from harassment and aggression toward fellow participants in this boycott. If someone acts in a way you don't like, that's not a reason to make it personal, to wish awful things on people, or to treat them as stupid. This applies to everyone, not to anyone in particular.

I will also never understand large accounts that back only one side, framing them as the ones who are right and everyone else as wrong. We should look at facts first and calm down if we're emotional, instead of immediately firing off accusations on Twitter. The truck has been very revealing in this respect. I understand the people who got scared, but there's nothing there that will genuinely harm Infold.

But let's ask ourselves: what have Infold given us in the second month of this boycott? So far they've simply gone back to their usual schedule. Whether that's good or bad, nobody can say yet — I'm inclined to read it positively. But we are still being bullied and still living in this stress. We can't deny that, can we? Many of the women in this movement, especially in China, have been insulted, attacked, and doxxed since the boycott began. If you disagreeing with the wording doesn't turn the people behind it into enemies, and it doesn't give anyone licence to insult them.

I keep seeing people block each other more and more (I get blocked by people I'm seeing for the first time in my life — I've never insulted anyone, so the reason for it is a mystery to me). But after today, a lot of people are ready to leave simply because someone is aggressively imposing their vision of the boycott on them and accusing them of things they never did. Do you really think this helps the boycott, or helps bring Valko back? Stop and think, look at what you're writing — and more importantly, who you're writing it to. I'm not addressing anyone specific, I'm addressing everyone. If you start attacking the people in the same boat as us, sooner or later that boat capsizes.

Do I need to remind you what happened to the boycott over Xavier's myth? It was crushed. And if a lot of people leave this one, crushing what's left won't be a problem for Infold.

We may choose different methods, but we are still operating inside a PEACEFUL boycott. The truck does not make this boycott non-peaceful. Harsher wording is not the same thing as hounding employees, sending funeral wreaths and cow manure, doxxing and harassing people who like Valko — the way CDG did. I'm asking you to keep that in mind.

So I'm calling on people to take a wider view, and on large accounts to be more careful about what they post. Because you carry responsibility whether you like it or not. By turning some people against others, you will be the first ones to break this boycott. And when one side walks away, there will be nobody left to blame but yourselves.

Take care of yourselves. Step away from social media and rest if you're reacting too emotionally to something. Infold will not give you your health back.
