Yet again, Jews cannot observe their festivals without being attacked.

From Yom Kippur in Manchester, to Chanukah on Bondi Beach, to Purim in Canada, a stabbing in New York is said to have occurred on Tisha B’Av, the saddest day in the Jewish calendar.

Yesterday, at around 13:30, a 50-year-old Jewish man was reportedly stabbed in the chest with a screwdriver after leaving a prayer service at a Manhattan synagogue.

A 57-year-old Asian man was also reportedly stabbed by the same alleged attacker. Suspect Raul Morales, 51, was arrested at his apartment shortly afterwards.

Before both attacks, which are being assessed as potential hate crimes, the suspect was reportedly heard shouting “Allahu Akbar”.

Thankfully, after being taken to a nearby hospital, both victims are in stable condition.

The festival of Tisha B’Av commemorates the biblical sin of the spies, the destruction of the ancient Temples in Jerusalem and the Roman exile of the Jews, and also marks a slew of antisemitic tribulations since then. Now, in 2026, Jews are being stabbed whilst commemorating it – a sign of how dark things have become.

Witness appeal

Detectives are appealing for information on an incident which took place on 4th July, during which a man was assaulted whilst with his son, aged three, in Markfield Park, Tottenham.

Thankfully, neither required medical attention.

@metpoliceuk have described the incident as “an unprovoked antisemitic attack”. It is also reported that during the incident threatening language was directed towards the victims and also to the wider Jewish community.

CAA has been alerted by a student at @RoyalHolloway that the Friends of Palestine Society — a society affiliated with the University Students’ Union — has fundraised for Zayir UK, an unregistered fundraising vehicle with alleged links to proscribed group Hizballah.

We have reported the incident to @TerrorismPolice and will be writing to the University and, in relation to the Students’ Union, the @ChtyCommission.

These astonishing allegations illustrate how British campuses have become a breeding ground for extremism. Counter Terrorism Policing must investigate whether money knowingly or otherwise financed a proscribed terrorist organisation and take appropriately severe action against everyone involved.

We welcome the @SURHUL suspension of the society pending an investigation, but Royal Holloway must also examine the conduct of these students and the Charity Commission must review the Students’ Union’s procedures and act accordingly. Each of these authorities must send a clear message that extremist ideologies have no place on campus and will be rooted out wherever they take hold.

Disturbing developments in London politics.

Hackney Council is reportedly to consider ending its twinning arrangement with Haifa, Israel's third-largest city.

Nearby, Brent Council has faced criticism over its twinning with Nablus, a city in the West Bank, after the local municipality there reportedly exhibited displays praising individuals associated with terrorist organisations and attacks against Jews.

The contrast is striking. Haifa is a city where Jews and Arabs famously live side-by-side; Nablus is a city where Jews are forbidden to live or freely access their holy sites under Palestinian Authority control.

A civic partnership with a diverse city in the Jewish state is apparently intolerable, but a city that extols the terrorist murder of Jews deserves the prestige of a twinning arrangement.

This is a sickening moral inversion that reveals the ugly priorities of certain factions in local London politics.

Frustrations were also apparent, according to the report, with the Government’s responses to major incidents.

British Jews perceived these responses as “short-term” and “counterproductive” and “rarely followed up”.

The report continued: “To many participants, action from the authorities mostly focused on increasing British Jews’ physical safety, failing to address other serious concerns and harms.”

One eighteen year old man from London observed: “I think being boxed in and having walls around us, it just makes us more isolated, even though it makes us more safe.”

The focus on trying to protect British Jews rather than confronting the antisemites, their ideologies and enablers that threaten the Jewish community, is fundamental to how antisemitism has spiralled out of control in this country.

As long as the authorities’ answer to rampant racism against Jewish people is to build higher walls around the Jews, the extremists will have won, and the price will be borne not just by the Jewish community but all of Britain.

“Across all the focus groups, there was a palpable and stark sense among participants of being unheard, let down and betrayed by the state and its institutions.”

This is the bleak reflection on how Jewish people are feeling in the current climate of surging antisemitism in the UK in a new report by @LSEnews academic Prof. Shani Orgad, titled “Listening to British Jews”.

The report conducted focus groups with tens of British Jews across a range of geographical locations, ages and religious backgrounds, and made several findings of interest.

Referring to grievances with the legal system and the Government, the report notes the slowness with which organisations like Iran’s Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) have been proscribed, and participants “perceived this failure as testifying to the state’s unwillingness to confront state-backed antisemitism and to its preparedness to compromise British Jews’ security for political or diplomatic considerations – a failure that deepens the sense of betrayal felt by British Jews.”

The IRGC was recently proscribed, after the Government delayed for two years in fulfilling its pre-election pledge to ban the Iranian terrorist organ.

The report further calls for “urgent legislation proscribing the Muslim Brotherhood,” which it observes “would significantly help to build trust in the state’s willingness to confront state-backed antisemitism”.

This aligns with our own representative polling, which shows that 85% of British Jews think that the British Government should proscribe the Muslim Brotherhood as a terrorist group.

Hitler’s birthplace to be converted into a police station.

Adolf Hitler’s birthplace in Braunau, Austria, long a pilgrimage site for neo-Nazis, is to be converted into a police station.

The decision has attracted controversy, with some arguing that the complete repurposing of the building without any or sufficient commemoration at the site to acknowledge its connection to Hitler risks appearing to deny this dark history.

The purpose of the conversion, however, is said to be to deter white nationalists from visiting and inspiring their hateful and antisemitic ideology.

Amid the worst levels of antisemitism in recent memory, efforts to prevent the celebration of Nazi ideology are welcome.

Neo-Nazism is a poison and must be uprooted from contemporary society.

BB gun shots injure Jews in Manchester.

CAA is aware that on Monday evening, three people were injured after a BB gun was fired from a passing car at speed. Police are treating the shooting as a religiously aggravated attack on Jews.

The incident took place on Leicester Road in Salford on Monday night at around 22:00 but was not made public during the early stages of the investigation. The victims, all adults, sustained minor injuries.

Shomrim Greater Manchester @ShomrimBPCP, the local Jewish community neighbourhood watch patrol, accessed CCTV footage along the route and identified the vehicle registration number, assisting Greater Manchester Police, which has now arrested two suspects. The suspects have been detained on suspicion of religiously aggravated common assault and remain in custody for questioning.

Last summer, in an unrelated incident two men filmed themselves firing a water gun from their car at Jewish passersby. Now it has escalated to real injuries from a BB gun. What will be next?

While we thank Greater Manchester Police for their professionalism in apprehending suspects, our message to the Government is that its extra spending on policing to protect British Jews is not the solution. Rampant extremism and Jew-hatred must be tackled at source, including the use of a conflict thousands of miles away to inflame hatred here in Britain.

We are extremely grateful to the volunteers of Shomrim Greater Manchester for their remarkable diligence and we wish the victims a full and speedy recovery. Swift justice will be a first step to restoring deterrence for these sorts of crimes. But it is still no substitute for the political and societal leadership that we desperately need to confront the antisemitic and extremist ideologies plaguing this country, with Jews paying the highest cost.

A “missed opportunity” to act.

Greater Manchester Police have stated that their investigations into the attacker responsible for the murders at Heaton Park Synagogue on Yom Kippur last October fell short.

According to Sir Stephen Watson, Chief Constable of Greater Manchester Police, terrorist Jihad al-Shamie’s phones were seized by officers after he was arrested on two occasions prior to the synagogue attack, in February and September 2025, but the force failed to examine crucial information stored on the devices which, they now admit, would have prompted further investigation.

The revelation comes as al-Shamie’s accomplice, Mohammad Bashir, was jailed for life after pleading guilty to one count of preparing an act of terrorism.

Sir Stephen said that he is “deeply sorry” and “disappointed at the prospect of adding to the distress of all of those affected by the terrible events last October.”

We have reported an individual we believe to have shown support for the now-designated organisation, the Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC), to the police.

The IRGC was recently designated under the National Security (State Threats) Act 2026.

CAA uncovered a message from a member of the Harrow branch of the Palestine Solidarity Campaign WhatsApp group that appears to praise the IRGC.

The message describes the IRGC – which has been linked to numerous terror plots on British soil – as “combating reactionary imperialism” and “defending Iran” against the US. It calls for “Victory to the IRGC.”

Another member of the WhatsApp group reacted to the message with a ‘thumbs up’ emoji, in an apparent display of support for the sentiment.

Glorifying the group is now a criminal offence, and we will ensure that those who support it in the UK face decisive action.

Mr Al Anjari’s apparent rhetoric is plainly incompatible with the standards expected of a British university.

Extremists teaching our children. Is this what passes for Higher Education nowadays?

Abdullah Al Anjari is a Doctoral Researcher in Palestine Studies at the University of Exeter, and a Postgraduate Teaching Associate at University College London.

CAA has uncovered repeated instances of highly inflammatory content posted by Mr Anjari on his X account, which is now no longer publicly accessible.

His posts appear to engage multiple examples within the International (IHRA) Definition of Antisemitism, including the denial of Jewish self-determination, the promotion of collective hostility towards Israelis, and the glorification of violence associated with terrorist organisations.

Below is a selection of his most hateful rhetoric.

In April 2024, Mr Al Anjari allegedly said that Israel has lost the media battle over its war in Gaza despite “the dominance of the Zionist lobby over Western media.”

Claims about Jews, or the Jewish state, wielding extraordinary power and global control are conspiratorial, harmful stereotypes which fuelled antisemitism in the past and continue to do so in the present. They breach the International (IHRA) Definition of Antisemitism.

In November 2024, he appears to have compared Israeli policies to those of the Nazis, asking if the blood of the Nazis’ victims is “more precious” – likely a reference to the Jews – than that of Israel’s supposed victims.

According to the International Definition of Antisemitism, “Drawing comparisons of contemporary Israeli policy to that of the Nazis” is an example of antisemitism.

He has also twice called for the “disappearance” of Israel, the world’s only Jewish state, which he characterises as an obstacle to peace in the Middle East. This aspiration is also a breach of the Definition.
