The English Devolution White Paper was launched today, laying out the government’s plans to make devolution the default setting across a range of government policy areas. We look forward to working with the government to help make it happen.
Our response:
We've arrived at #Locality24! 🎉 From practical sessions and workshops on everything historic preservation - we're excited to connect with community game-changers, share resources and learn from one another.
Big clap for @MayorofGM Andy Burnham’s call for core funding for community organisations who know what their area needs. Also calls for devolved welfare budgets and a housing first approach. “If you start with place first you set the conditions for things to work” #Locality24
“Start by trusting your communities, see the strengths in communities and build from there.
We’re going to have to think of a new way of doing things, and devolution is the game changer. When power comes closer to you, that’s power you can tap into.”

“Our job at Locality is to make sure your voice is heard.” CEO @antlondon on how we can make sure that “warm words” become concrete actions from government to help the community sector thrive #Locality24
Local community organisations have seen rising demand by dealing with a series of crises and a reduction in their income. We're hearing significant impacts from members on the increased costs and we agree that more Government support urgently needed to support vital services
Our estimates show planned increases to employer national insurance contributions will cost the charity sector £1.4bn a year.
Many charities will be forced to make difficult decisions to shoulder this heavy burden. Together with @ACEVO, we’re calling on @hmtreasury to take urgent action.

Read the statement from The Civil Society Group on the recent racist violence, signed by our CEO @antlondon and other charity leaders: https://t.co/L20DV3PFjD
Racist violence is unacceptable, and we offer our solidarity to everyone impacted.
We have seen the power of community in action. We will not allow far-right extremists to undermine community cohesion.
Members, please get in touch with us if you need any support.
The racist violence we have seen is shocking and unacceptable and @localitynews offers our solidarity to people & communities impacted by this. Community orgs play a crucial role in bringing people together and offering support. Members, please contact us if we can help you
