Yesterday, AAK, led by Vice President Arch. Brenda Nyawara, participated in a stakeholder forum convened by the Nairobi City County Assembly's Lands, Housing and Planning Committee.
During the engagement, AAK highlighted key concerns affecting planning and development control in Nairobi, including the implementation of the Development Control Policy, the composition of the Urban Planning Technical Committee (UPTC), delays in operationalizing the County Physical and Land Use Planning Liaison Committee, challenges with the Nairobi Planning and Development Management System (NPDMS), county technical capacity, regularization of unauthorized developments, investment in the built environment, protection of public spaces, and County-AAK engagement.
The Committee acknowledged the issues raised and invited stakeholders to support its oversight role through technical and professional expertise. AAK welcomed the engagement and called for a formal framework to guide future collaboration, including clear terms of reference, scope of engagement and facilitation modalities.

What does remuneration and employment look like across Kenya’s built environment professions? The anonymous AAK Salary Survey 2026 seeks to answer this by capturing data on salaries, employment conditions, staff benefits, and workforce trends across the profession. The findings will provide valuable industry benchmarks and strengthen evidence-based advocacy, policy development, workforce planning, and initiatives aimed at improving professional practice. The survey takes approximately 10 minutes to complete. All responses will remain strictly confidential, with findings anonymized and presented only in aggregate.

As part of the AAK Annual Convention 2026, the Build Tours took delegates out of the conference hall and straight to where the action really is: from the new Ukunda Airport Terminal, to Kisite Mpunguti Marine Park & Wasini Island, and the impressive Mwache Dam Project. It was genuinely amazing to see infrastructure, engineering, and resilience not only on the slides but, in real life. A big thank you to our hosts and to everyone who showed up and helped make the tours such a rich learning experience! 🙌🏾
