Glad to exchange with Arthur van Diesen, UNICEF Representative in Tajikistan, on the broad areas of #cooperation between the European Union and #UNICEF in Tajikistan. We are working jointly to create an #enabling and #safe learning environment for all Tajiks.
On June 2, 2025, in celebration of #InternationalChildrensDay, a national conference was held in Dushanbe to mark the 10th anniversary of Tajikistan’s Law “On the Protection of the Rights of the Child.” 🇹🇯
A pleasure to meet Hon. @FujiiHisayuki, Japan’s State Minister for Foreign Affairs at the international glaciers’ preservation conference today.
UNICEF is grateful for the strong partnership with Japan and our shared commitment in advancing the rights of children everywhere.
A pleasure to meet the Mayor of Dushanbe, Rustami Emomali & thank him for his continued support of UNICEF’s work.
We discussed ways to strengthen our work for children, including children with disabilities, to deliver on child rights, education & green, sustainable development.
The melting of glaciers has severe consequences for children, impacting clean water resources vital for families, livelihoods and millions of children.
My message at the #Glaciers2025 conference today: We must put children at the heart of global climate action and finance.
A pleasure to join children & youth in Tajikistan today & listen to their powerful voices & innovative ideas to address the impacts of a warming climate & melting glaciers. Children here are uniquely impacted. Stronger climate financing and actions are needed to protect children.
Great to attend the opening of an early childhood intervention center at a primary health care facility in Dushanbe alongside Deputy PM Dilrabo Mansuri and Ministers who have been key to furthering the rights of children in Tajikistan, including children with disabilities.
At the Children and Youth Glaciers Preservation Forum, @unicefchief and I had the privilege of meeting youth climate advocates and hearing their ideas for driving climate action and protecting their communities from the impacts of melting glaciers.
Pleased to join @unicefchief, Tajikistan's Deputy Prime Minister and Ministers for the opening of the Early Childhood Intervention Centre. This is an essential step toward strengthening inclusive early childhood services in the country.
Fantastic visit to an adolescent innovation lab to see the great potential of Tajikistan’s young people & thank the government for advancing adolescent education and skilling. UNICEF is urging all partners in Tajikistan to invest in young people as future leaders and innovators.
Great to visit Primary Health Care Centre #15 in Dushanbe, where early childhood services are being brought closer to families by integrating social support into primary care. Here, a multidisciplinary team – from therapists to educators and social workers – will deliver child-centred care to those who need it most.
Great to see @unicef_tjk's exhibition at the Glacier Conference, where children shared how they see the climate crisis through AI-generated images. Their reflections reveal both fear and hope and remind us that young people must be at the heart of climate action.
Excellent meeting with President Emomali Rahmon in Tajikistan today to discuss our collaboration to advance the quality of life for children in Tajikistan.
UNICEF appreciates our partnership with the Government of Tajikistan & its support for UNICEF’s mandate around the world.
@unicef_tjk Representative Arthur van Diesen met with the newly appointed Chairman of the Committee for TV and Radio Broadcasting of Tajikistan, Mr. Nosir Said to discuss ways of mutual cooperation.
