The term 'Atlantic Art' was coined by Eoin MacWhite in the 1940/50s, to express the similarities he found between the rock art of Ireland and Galicia. It was recovered in the 1990s by Richard Bradley and it is now widely used. #rockart #AtlanticRockArt #CupAndRings

[Ireland's Prehistoric Rock Art @Irelandrockart]

One of the most well-known examples of rock art in Ireland is the Boheh Stone, Co. Mayo which features over 250 carvings. On the 16th of April and between the 22-24th of August the sun can be seen rolling down the northern shoulder of Croagh Patrick illuminating the panel.
