My dad breathed his last breath & transitioned peacefully this morning.

It’s been quite emotional visiting him everyday for hours, while also fulfilling my media commitments.

Caring for parents as they die is not for the faint hearted, but it’s such a blessing too 🥲

Staying up Sunday night for Mexico v England? Absolutely. But here’s the worry for England at the Azteca, and explains Mexico’s near invincibility at home.

You need a couple of weeks to acclimatise in rarefied atmospheres (Mexico City is 8,000 feet above sea level) so the air is significantly thinner, containing roughly 20% to 25% less oxygen and density compared to sea level. The England 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁥󠁮󠁧󠁿 squad have only 4 days to prepare.

To put this in context, March 2004 I was at the Aspen comedy festival in Colorado (similar altitude) and could barely breathe as I performed the night I arrived. Completely went to pieces and ended up being helped off stage. Some performers needed breathing apparatus post show to get their bearings back. And that’s just standing there talking.

Don’t be surprised if Thomas Tuchel adopts a low block and plans to just hit Mexico on the break. If DR CONGO was bad, prepare yourselves for far worse in the early hours of Monday (1am) #MEXENG

I am so frustrated about this predicament for the England - this stinks - I’ve bloody used an altitude bed at sea level, that should be something team @England & all the boys should be living in those tents every day - the delay to Mexico is Politricks, they need to stay ahead.

That’s because they are adapted to the altitude conditions and likely the opposing teams are not - this is such an unfair disadvantage playing 7000 ft about sea level WITHOUT having ay least a week up there, to acclimate to the conditions - you basically cannot breathe initially
