@Shanta_WB @WorldBank (2/2) the knowledge that is required to deliver the public goods you mention is not what the world bank has historically focused on or accumulated, which does not give it some sort of comparative adv to a new org. It is also the case that the bank is highly resistant to change.

@Shanta_WB @WorldBank Very interesting. The question it provoked is whether it’s easier to change the world bank to basically deliver a different mission (which I think would require redesigning the org in so many aspects), or to create a new org that is built to deliver global public goods (1/2)

@mulagostarr 1 reason: the social innovation space is poorly funded (read small piece-meal amounts). Older folks with financial responsibilities shy away. This is slowly changing - e.g: Schmidt Futures innovation fellow program for instance that gives $1 million to bold entrepreneurs.
