Ibrahim and Omar Ali grew up in the West Bank waking up at 4am to watch NBA games, sometimes playing just 5 games a season because of checkpoints and road closures.
They grew up on Kyrie, whose posts made them feel like they had an ally in the NBA. Omar's dream is to hand him his Palestine national team jersey one day.
Now Ibrahim is the only West Bank born Palestinian American on a men's college roster, and Omar is drawing D1 interest.
Beautiful story from @MirinFader 🙏 https://t.co/M9RKv0x3MC
The US has refused to host Iran's national team for the World Cup even though they have to play all their games there
Which means they're based in Tijuana and will have to fly on the day of their games
I've never heard of this kind of discrimination in World Cup history
Hear from @mollycrabapple about her new book "Here Where We Live Is Our Country: The Story of the Jewish Bund," chronicling the 20th-century socialist revolutionary party that fought antisemitism in Europe and opposed the formation of a Jewish ethnostate in Palestine.
After 80 years of mass murder, and today aggression in Iran, ethnic cleansing in Lebanon, genocide in Palestine, corruption of governments across the West, and the fielding of racist proxies to harass human rights defenders everywhere, no, Israel does not have “a right to exist” and does not have “a right to defend itself” anymore than Nazi Germany did. It must be isolated, weakened, defeated, and dismantled. The peace of the world and the rights of millions depend upon it.
The Iranian regime never donated a dollar toward building a school or hospital in Palestine. However, it did give large sums of money to Hamas and other armed militias that oppressed and abused Palestinians. The only thing Iran exported to the Palestinians was methods of torture and oppression, which Hamas used in Gaza.
A world without this regime would be a better world for the Palestinians too.
Ms. Rachel shared the artwork of a little girl in Gaza: “I draw houses because I don’t have one…Just a dream with windows and a door. A place where I can sleep without fear”

Every day, Israel kills nearly a hundred Palestinians in Gaza. Every day in our repetitive daily lives, with their routines, is a day in which more than a hundred souls are denied the most sacred right: their right to live, to exist, to breathe, to be. The normalization of mass murder through bombardment, starvation, the denial of basic and essential needs such as medicine, health care, and water, and the push toward mass displacement and expulsion is not an event that will simply unfold in the background, waiting to be reversed or paused. This is a crime of such magnitude that it will bring about upheaval, destruction, and severe consequences that many are unable to fathom or comprehend.
The fact that a skeletal baby might have access to some formula is making Ben Gvir lose his mind and he’s probably smashing everything around him right now. Ben Gvir is a baby killer and his biggest joy is seeing babies die and burn and starve
Do not be surprised when we journalists stop covering news here. I swear by God that today I could not get up from the hunger. There is no food. Even if someone has money, there is nothing in the market to even purchase.
We are all starving. We are all dying.
"Great things come out of being forced to reckon with your discomfort and this is very personal to me. My family is Palestinian … We were thrown out of Palestine in 1948. We really had to think about what home meant. We still have to think about [it].”

This is a day for truth, not explanations. Israel is carrying out a genocide of the Palestinian people. It is carrying out this genocide in the cruellest way. The cruelty has two main manifestations:
First, Israel is relentless. It kills Palestinians in every imaginable and many unimaginable ways. Israel bombs, fires and starves as it continuously concentrates Palestinians in smaller and smaller areas, where it continues to bomb, fire and starve them.
Second, Israel denies this genocide as it carries it out, documents it and celebrates it. Israel blames the Palestinians it kills for their own deaths, claims it is justified in killing them, takes refuge in bogus research and ratios and suggests that Palestinians are neither starving nor hurt or dead.
This evil will not fade. It will not recede. It must be stopped. It cannot be tolerated. Those who condone it even by averting their eyes are complicit. It is elaborate
But not complex. Good and bad, life and death. The choice is there to be made.
Dear Refaat,
Today, I visited a strawberry farm for the first time in two years. I went for two reasons.
First, my children wanted to pick strawberries—just as they used to on their grandfather’s farm back in Gaza.
Second, I went because strawberry fields bring your memory rushing back to me.
With each berry I picked, I thought of you. I blessed your name, and I cursed those who murdered you—along with so many of my relatives and friends. I cursed all who have called, directly or silently, for the destruction of Gaza and its people.
You were dearly missed, dearest Refaat.
I just wish I could pick every strawberry in that field.
