Earlier today, I had the pleasure of receiving H.E. Rt. Hon. @ChibuikeAmaechi, CON, the Vice Presidential Candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC), and his team.
Our meeting provided another opportunity to reflect on the enormous responsibility before us as we work with other patriotic Nigerians to build a broad, united, and credible platform capable of restoring hope, strengthening our democracy, and offering our people the purposeful leadership they deserve.
I congratulate H.E. Rt. Hon. Amaechi on his emergence as the Vice Presidential Candidate of our great party. His wealth of experience in public service, unwavering commitment to democratic ideals, and passion for a better Nigeria will undoubtedly enrich our collective mission.
I also warmly welcome today's judgment of the Federal High Court affirming the legitimacy of the Senator David Mark-led leadership of the African Democratic Congress. The judgment is a victory not only for our party but also for the rule of law, constitutional democracy, and the sanctity of due process.
With this legal uncertainty now laid to rest, we can devote our full attention to the important task of building a stronger, more united party and presenting Nigerians with a credible alternative founded on justice, inclusion, competence, and national renewal.
The journey ahead requires sacrifice, unity of purpose, and unwavering commitment. I remain confident that, together, we shall continue to strengthen our democracy and advance the aspirations of the Nigerian people.
May Almighty God continue to guide our efforts and bless the Federal Republic of Nigeria. – AWT

As we commemorate Democracy Day, we must reflect not only on how far we have come as a nation but also on the challenges that still confront us. Insecurity, economic hardship, unemployment, poverty, and social divisions continue to test our resolve and place enormous burdens on millions of Nigerians.
Yet, even in the face of these challenges, we must not lose faith in our country or in the promise of democracy. Nation-building is a collective responsibility. It requires sacrifice, patriotism, tolerance, and a shared commitment to the common good.
Today, we honour the sacrifices of those who fought for the democratic freedoms we enjoy and recommit ourselves to the ideals of justice, accountability, inclusion, and good governance. We must continue to strengthen our democratic institutions, uphold the rule of law, and create opportunities that give every Nigerian a stake in the nation's future.
A greater Nigeria is possible, but it can only be achieved when we work together across ethnic, religious, political, and regional divides, united by our common destiny and shared aspirations.
May this Democracy Day renew our hope, strengthen our resolve, and inspire us to build the peaceful, prosperous, and united Nigeria that generations before us dreamed of and generations after us deserve.
Happy Democracy Day, Nigeria. – AWT
I am deeply saddened and heartbroken by the recent bandit attacks on Dangulbi community in Tureta Local Government Area of Sokoto State, which claimed innocent lives, destroyed property, and displaced families.
These repeated attacks on innocent citizens are painful, unacceptable, and a direct assault on the peace and security of our communities. My thoughts and prayers are with the families of those who lost their loved ones, those injured, and all residents affected by this tragic incident.
I pray that Almighty Allah (SWT) forgives the shortcomings of the deceased, grants them Aljannatul Firdausi, gives their families the strength and patience to bear these painful losses, and grants quick recovery to those injured. I also pray for the safe return of all those abducted.
I call on security agencies to intensify efforts towards restoring peace and strengthening protection for vulnerable communities across the Sokoto-Zamfara axis. Our people deserve to live in safety and pursue their livelihoods without fear.
We must remain united and resolute in supporting every genuine effort aimed at ending banditry and restoring lasting peace to our communities. - AWT
I congratulate His Excellency, Alhaji @atiku, GCON, Waziri Adamawa, on his emergence as the presidential candidate of the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
This victory is not merely a personal achievement, but a reflection of the growing desire among Nigerians for experienced, courageous, and people oriented leadership capable of steering the nation through these challenging times.
Nigeria today stands at a critical crossroads. Our people are confronted by economic hardship, insecurity, division, and growing uncertainty about the future. It is therefore understandable that many Nigerians continue to rally around leaders with proven national outlook, democratic credentials, and the capacity to inspire hope across all regions and generations.
Your emergence through a transparent democratic process further reinforces the importance of internal democracy and political participation in strengthening our democratic culture.
As the nation gradually moves towards another important electoral cycle, I urge all political actors and citizens alike to place national interest above personal ambition, conduct themselves peacefully, and remain committed to the unity, stability, and progress of our dear country.
I pray that Almighty Allah grants you wisdom, strength, and good health as you continue your service to the nation.
Congratulations once again, Your Excellency. -AWT
Sixteen years on, history still speaks.
For Nigeria, Umaru Musa Yar'Adua is not just a memory, he is a defining chapter.
On May 5, 2010, the nation stood still as a leader of rare humility and quiet strength took his final breath. It was not just the passing of a President, it was the closing of a moment in our democratic journey that continues to shape our politics even today.
President Yar’Adua was not driven by noise or theatrics. He was guided by principle. His respect for the rule of law was not a slogan, it was a standard he lived by. In an era where power often seeks dominance, he chose restraint, believing firmly that institutions must be stronger than individuals.
He carried the burden of leadership with dignity, always conscious of Nigeria’s fragile unity and the need to protect it. His vision was clear: a country governed by systems, not personalities.
For many of us, he was more than a leader. He was a reference point. A reminder that integrity in public office is not an illusion, but a choice.
Sixteen years later, his absence is still felt. The questions he raised about governance, accountability, and nation-building remain as relevant as ever.
Today, we remember not just how he died, but how he lived.
We honour a man who chose decency in power, humility in leadership, and faith in Nigeria.
Life is fleeting, but legacy endures.
May Almighty Allah SWT continue to grant his soul eternal rest in Al-Jannah Firdaus. - AWT
I welcome the judgment of the Supreme Court of Nigeria on the matter concerning the African Democratic Congress (ADC).
This ruling stands as a strong affirmation of the supremacy of the rule of law and the enduring strength of our democratic institutions. At a time when there are growing concerns about the integrity of political processes, today’s decision sends a clear and reassuring message that the judiciary remains a steadfast guardian of justice, fairness, and constitutional order.
Importantly, this judgment has now put to rest all questions around the leadership of the party, affirming the legitimacy of the leadership under distinguished Senator David Mark and H.E Rauf Aregbesola. This clarity is critical for stability, unity, and the continued growth of the party within Nigeria’s democratic space.
Democracy thrives not merely on elections, but on the credibility of the institutions that interpret and uphold the law. The Supreme Court, through this judgment, has once again demonstrated its commitment to impartiality and its role as the final arbiter in disputes that shape our political landscape.
I commend the Court for rising above all pressures and delivering a verdict that reinforces public confidence in our legal system. This is not just a victory for any political party or interest group; it is a victory for Nigeria, for democracy, and for every citizen who believes in the sanctity of due process.
As we move forward, I urge all stakeholders to respect the judgment and continue to engage within the bounds of the law. Our collective responsibility is to strengthen democratic values, deepen institutional trust, and ensure that Nigeria’s political space remains governed by justice, equity, and the rule of law. -AWT

From his role as Military Governor of Niger State to his tenure as Minister of Communications, and later as Senator and President of the Senate from 2007 to 2015, Senator David Mark has consistently demonstrated leadership, stability, and patriotism at the highest levels.
He remains a foremost statesman whose contributions have left a lasting imprint on Nigeria’s political landscape.
On this special occasion, I pray for your continued good health, strength, and wisdom.
Happy 78th Birthday, sir. - AWT
Alongside other leaders of the ADC, I am participating in a peaceful protest against the perceived partisanship of the electoral umpire.
This patriotic action is driven by our collective commitment to safeguarding Nigeria’s democracy and ensuring that our electoral process remains credible, fair, and transparent.
We must resist any attempt to undermine democratic institutions or pave the way for authoritarian tendencies.
Our stance is not just political, it is a duty to protect the integrity of our nation and preserve the will of the people. - AWT

My dear brother,
I warmly felicitate with you on the occasion of your birthday.
On this special day, I celebrate not just your life, but your enduring contributions to our nation’s democratic journey. Your service to Nigeria, from your distinguished role in the House of Representatives to your time as Governor of Imo State, reflects a deep commitment to the ideals of leadership, justice, and the rule of law.
You have remained consistent in your pursuit of a better Nigeria, guided by principle, courage, and a strong sense of responsibility to the people.
As you mark this milestone, I pray that Almighty God grants you continued good health, strength, and wisdom to keep contributing to the growth and stability of our dear country.
Happy Birthday, Your Excellency.
As we celebrate today’s Eid el-Fitr, following the blessed month of Ramadan, the month of supplication to Almighty Allah (SWT), we are grateful for the grace to witness its completion.
On this joyous occasion, I extend my warmest greetings, and those of my family, to the Muslim Ummah across Nigeria and around the world.

Today, after deep reflection and consultations, I have formally resigned my membership of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and I have communicated my resignation to my ward chairman in writing.
The PDP has been a significant part of my political journey, and I remain grateful for the opportunities it gave me to serve our nation, including as Speaker of the House of Representatives and as Governor of Sokoto State during my second term in office.
However, the persistent internal crisis, leadership disagreements, and growing divisions within the PDP have made it increasingly difficult to continue my membership of the party. These developments have unfortunately weakened the unity and direction that once defined the party and have necessitated this decision.
Consequently, I have today officially joined the African Democratic Congress (ADC) with my associates and supporters.
I am convinced that this decision is guided by my belief that Nigeria needs a stronger political platform built on integrity, accountability, inclusiveness, and a clear commitment to national development.
I remain fully committed to the service of our country and to the ideals of democracy, justice, and national unity. – AWT
On this International Women’s Day, I celebrate the strength, resilience, and immense contributions of women to our society, our communities, and our nation.
My belief has always been clear: meaningful development and nation building cannot happen without the full participation of women in leadership and governance.
During my tenure as Governor of Sokoto State, this conviction guided my approach to governance. We deliberately ensured that women and youths were given their rightful place in government. Inclusiveness was therefore not just a slogan, but a conscious policy reflected in our decisions.
For the first time in the state’s history, three women were appointed as commissioners to key and sensitive ministries, breaking the long-standing tradition of confining women only to the Ministry of Women Affairs.
At the local government level, we ensured that at least three female councillors served in each local government area, with Tambuwal Local Government Area having about five. This brought the total number of female councillors to 71 across the state.
We also appointed seven female Permanent Secretaries and nine female Directors-General, alongside many other women who served with distinction on boards, and as Special Advisers and Special Assistants.
These steps were deliberate because I remain firmly convinced that inclusive governance at all levels is fundamental to nation building and sustainable national development.
As we mark this year’s International Women’s Day, let us continue to open doors for women, create opportunities for their leadership, and ensure that their voices are heard in shaping the future of our nation.
Happy International Women’s Day. -AWT
Today, we celebrate an elder statesman, a patriot, and one of Nigeria’s most influential leaders, His Excellency, Chief Olusegun Aremu Obasanjo, GCFR, as he turns 89.
Baba, your journey through Nigeria’s history has been defined by service, courage, and an enduring commitment to the progress of our nation and the African continent. From your distinguished military career to your leadership of Nigeria at critical moments in our history, you have remained a strong voice for unity, accountability, and national development.
Your decision, as military Head of State, to hand over power to a democratically elected civilian government remains one of the most defining acts of statesmanship in Nigeria’s political history. Decades later, your return as a civilian president helped stabilise Nigeria’s young democracy and reposition the country economically through bold reforms that transformed sectors such as telecommunications, banking, and agriculture.
Under your leadership, Nigeria secured historic debt relief, easing a heavy national burden and opening new opportunities for growth and development. The reforms of that era laid important foundations that continue to shape the nation’s economic and institutional landscape.
Beyond Nigeria, you have remained an influential voice across Africa and the global community, consistently advocating peace, dialogue, and responsible leadership. Your contributions to conflict resolution and democratic advancement across the continent have earned you enduring respect as a pan African statesman.
As you celebrate this remarkable milestone, I join countless Nigerians and admirers around the world in wishing you continued strength, good health, and many more years of wisdom and counsel.
Happy 89th birthday, Baba Obasanjo. Your life remains a powerful chapter in the story of Nigeria. -AWT
My dear brother, Mallam @elrufai,
On the occasion of your birthday, I join your family, friends, and associates in celebrating a man whose name has become synonymous with courage, conviction, and an unwavering commitment to public service.
Over the years, you have demonstrated remarkable boldness in the pursuit of your beliefs and in the discharge of your responsibilities, regardless of the political headwinds. Whether in public office or in national discourse, you have never shied away from difficult decisions or unpopular truths. That courage, even when controversial, has remained one of your most defining attributes.
Your tenure as Governor of Kaduna State was marked by tough choices and a willingness to confront long-standing challenges with a firm hand. History often remembers leaders not for the comfort they provided, but for the courage they displayed in times of complexity. In this regard, you have etched your name in the annals of Nigeria’s political evolution.
As you celebrate another year, I pray that the Almighty grants you good health, wisdom, and renewed strength for the journey ahead. May your years be long, purposeful, and filled with continued service to our nation.
Happy birthday, Your Excellency. – AWT
Over the weekend, I had the privilege of attending a Walima ceremony held in honour of 75 graduates of the Holy Qur’an, organised by Madarasatul Hajiya Aisha Hizburahim in the Kauran Malam Garba area of Arkilla District.
The school was established and named in memory of my late mother, Hajiya Aisha, of blessed memory, to perpetuate her legacy of education and discipline. Founded in 2021 by my cousin, Abdullahi Moyi Tambuwal, the institution has achieved remarkable success.
I assure the school management of my continued support in all its endeavours. May Allah (SWT) bless the memories of our dear parents and grant them Al-Jannatul Firdaus as their final abode. – AWT
