#morninglistening to the very successful v.2 of this new #JSBach Cantata-Cycle (1st year) from the GaecingerCantorey w/HCRademann on @HaensslerMusic. "VisionBach", which makes mildly more sense in German than in English.

#morninglistening to #GlennGould's Partitas. Classic #JSBach for the ages, even though Gould needn't be put on too high a pedestal.

#morninglistening to the rest of #GlennGould's truly fine Partitas. Classic #JSBach for the ages, even though Gould needn't be put on too high a pedestal.

#morninglistening to arguably the worst of GlennGould's JSBach rec's, v.1 of the Toccatas. As if Gould wanted to prove that these were Bach's weakest among the keyboard sets. Closer listening occas. makes me like this rec, then sometimes I hate it.

#morninglistening to YoYoMa's third (and last) recording of the JSBach CelloSuites from 2018, after previous goes at them in 1983 & 1997. "Six Evolutions", as he or @sonyclassical put it.
Only WispelweyPieter recorded them as often, I think.

#morninglistening to AngelaHewitt (@HewittJSB), Canada's second gift to Bach, in her 2nd recording is the WellTemperedClavier. I feel about it a bit like I feel about crumpets: jam with it! Such delightfully trist C-sharp major.

#morninglistening to the JSBach CelloSuites played v. neatly on the viola by MarcSabbah on prosperoclassical
The difficult part is that it sounds easier than on the cello, but the Suites benefit from the sense of tenaciousness.
#morninglistening to an exciting disc of JSBach: 11 years after vol. 5, this disc by KeiKoito on Claves, recorded 6 years ago, has surprised me happily. Koito-interruptus, one might say.

#morninglistening to Bach cantatas from bachstiftung & RudolfLutz who will perform at the @Konzerthauswien on Tuesday! Vol.51 is one of the best yet, w/ glorious BWV149, indelibly dancing BWV88 & 148. Oh, the singers!

If I kept only one recording of
#JSBach's Matthew Passion it would be…
Guttenberg/Farao

Not a perfect recording but the most felt! For the rainbow over "Wahrlich" alone, I must grab this over Herreweghe or Harnoncourt et al. 🤍

#morninglistening to Bach cantatas from Bachstiftung & #RudolfLutz on arrival of the latest batch (in the 50s now) but in this case to BWV87 on vol.34. So much of the Matthew Passion in here.
#Bach - Step by lively, invigorating step, the St.Gallen #CantataCycle continues. ♡
#morninglistening to Bach cantatas from @bachstiftung & #RudolfLutz on arrival of the latest batch. Vol.52 w/the Pergolesi-Cantata BWV1083 and "Liebster Immanuel" for Epiphanias.
BWV123: makes the "harte Kreuzesreise" worth it!
The lovely Sarabande from J.S. Bach’s
Orchestral Suite No. 2 (in my piano duet
arrangement) in rehearsal with Yukimi Song. Enjoy #MondayMorningBach and have a great week! 🎹🎹🎶💕

On this day in 1720 Handel Radamisto was first performed at the King’s Theatre Haymarket
King George I and the Prince of Wales attended the performance and Handel dedicated the score to the King. Margherita Dursastanti appeared in a Handel work for the first time in London
