Purposefully serving children, youth and adults with diverse physical, neurological and developmental abilities and their families in British Columbia, Canada.
Ten years ago, we created Indigenous Disability Awareness Month (IDAM)! IDAM was created to raise the priority of Indigenous disability and recognize and celebrate the overwhelming contributions that Indigenous Peoples with disabilities bring to all of our communities, while highlighting the unique barriers they too often face.
Over the past 10 years, British Columbia, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, and this year Alberta, have all officially recognized and proclaimed the Month, and the United Nations recommended to Canada that IDAM be officially recognized nationally each year! Since it’s inception, IDAM has been additionally recognized by the majority of the Capital cities in Canada, hundreds of communities and organizations and internationally!
During the 10th anniversary of IDAM, we are very pleased to be holding our National Indigenous Disability and Wellness Gathering, https://t.co/JW2dF0WGzW officially launching two new national initiatives.
First is our: “Voices of Inclusion: Oral Histories of Indigenous Disability” project https://t.co/7DRskFczxy
Second our: “National Disability Tax Credit Navigation” program https://t.co/hyp3RLM3hs
Join us in celebrating Indigenous Peoples with disabilities. If your community or organization hasn’t yet recognized IDAM, please join countless others across the world that have done so!

Today we pause to honour the sacrifices made by Canadians for our country. We honour those who lost their lives in service, families who lost loved ones & veterans who returned and the trauma they carry. To remember them is to advocate for peace. Lest we forget. #RemembranceDay
