50–52 year-olds registered with a GP in England will now start to receive home-testing kits for bowel cancer every two years, as part of the last phase to bring England’s bowel cancer screening programme in line with the UK’s age recommendations.

Bowel cancer rates in younger people hit the headlines this week. What are your thoughts about why this might be happening?

Rates of bowel cancer in young people are rising more sharply in England than in many other countries around the world, a study has found.

Early onset bowel cancer in those aged 25 to 49 is increasing globally, but England is among the countries with the biggest rise.
