I’ve been taking my Photo 1 students on a journey through photography history, and we recently learned all about Daguerreotypes! 📸

After learning about this early photographic process, we borrowed props from our theater department and had students pose like people from the time period—complete with serious expressions and no smiling! 😐

Then the fun continued in Photoshop! Students transformed their portraits to give them an authentic, aged look. I printed their finished images using the Kodak printer I received through my classroom wishlist, and students turned their portraits into little Daguerreotype magnets to take home and share with their families. 🧲📸

I love finding ways to make photography history hands-on, creative, and something students can actually take home with them!
