After an incredible 41 years @BM_AG's longest serving member of staff, Alan Giles, Senior Technician, is retiring today. Alan has probably worked on every exhibition you can remember @BM_AG - he's a legend!
Thank you Alan, you're going to be missed!

Jam packed day today - amazing photography workshop with the awesome @BMT_Photo and an eagerness to bring this bike back to its former glory ... maybe even ready for display 😉🏍️
A 15m (49ft) Japanese scroll depicting a battle is one of one of 27,000 items being digitised and catalogued at @BM_AG. The team were initially unaware of just how long the scroll would be until they began carefully unrolling it. #BrumHour

So I came as a conservation student to @BM_AG in 2001 and the Industrial Gallery had not changed a lot in 20 years. Until 2021, when rather a lot changed. . .
And here’s the rest of the team, @BM_AG, the truly brilliant Collections Care team, normally @BMTMCC and @BMTconservators and those Collections specialists without hashtags, all who’ve switched to focus on inventoried and packing 1000’s of objects. Oh. And me. I do Gannts.
