Over the last 100 years we have changed the way we entertain ourselves with all the new technological advancements. One of the things that has not changed is when its a sunny day, we all like to gather on the beach with friends and family and enjoy the hot weather..

Check out this painting of the #brightonfishingquarter created by Johannes Kerkhoven. Only finished last week he brought the Museum a copy to say thank you for the inspiration of the hog boat that is in the top right corner of the painting.
These 'marks' were a major part of the local fishing industry. A fishing boys apprenticeship included learning the marks and were closely guarded to be kept in the family. Now obsolete as we have fish finders and sat nav.

"Girls I'm feeling shy" Bathing machines was a device that was used for people to change from regular clothes into their swimwear. These were across Brighton beach In the early 17th century up until the 20th century.
