Yep, this is what the science says. Give kids experiences that make them stronger.
Challenge them. Cold-call them. Make them do things hard enough they can't succeed without real effort.
Being anxious about student anxiety only makes it worse.

@edudissenter Yes, both are part of the process. Punishment needs to also fit the offense and natural consequences are best. It also has to be age appropriate. Student vandalizes the restroom, the consequence could be detention and cleaning up, along with follow up conversation and check ins.
@edudissenter Part of the consequence for not following the appropriate behavior of the skill was activities that implemented practicing the skill multiple times, reading social skill stories and answering questions, or re-writing the skill. Consequences should always address the behavior.
