Somewhere in Southern Maryland, a woman spent her career making sure animals and the officers who encounter them both come out safer.
That's Laurel. As a nationally recognized expert with the U.S. DOJ's Office of Community Oriented Policing Services, she trained officers across the country to handle animal encounters with more compassion and less risk. She's also the founder and president of Friends of the Linda L. Kelly Animal Shelter, where she's helped provide medical care, rescue support, and second chances to countless animals by advocating, fundraising, and showing up whenever her community needed her. Her community noticed. Her nominator made sure we did too.
We are on our People In The World Tour, and with the help of @SixDegreesofKB, we're spotlighting a good human from each stop. Laurel is next.
