It was great to catch up with Banff’s Mayor, Corrie DiManno! @banffmayor
We had a productive discussion on the tourism industry in Banff and how we can work together to ensure people from across Canada and from around the world can come visit this beautiful city year-round. 🇨🇦🏔️
Happy #Canmore Pride! 🏳️⚧️🏳️🌈 We believe in a thing called love here in the Bow Valley. And we’re proud to be a place where you can love who you love and where you can be authentically you. Looking forward to the conversations and celebrations ➡️ https://t.co/Zt1CThFEOx 🎉💜
Today #Banff heads to the polls to decide the future of the pedestrian zone, whether it stays or goes. Please vote at Town Hall from 10am to 8pm, bring ID. Then, together as a community, we’ll respect and embrace what Banff had to say 🗳️

Amidst the ashes, life finds a way
Just like the community of Jasper, Jasper National Park's wildlife will rebound from this crisis.
In the face of flames, the extraordinary instincts of wildlife, like bears and elk, guide them to safety.
The #Banff#Canmore Foundation has set up this fund to help the people of #Jasper. Donating to this fund is the best way to support the community:
ROCKY MOUNTAIN COMMUNITY RELIEF FUND: From one mountain community to another, Bow Valley stands in support of Jasper through this devastating loss.
Funds raised through this fund will support response and recovery in Jasper through BCF partners and collaborators working on the ground, particularly Jasper Community Team Society.
Donate at https://t.co/YlE20C8nYD. Tax receipts are available.
There are no words, only tears. Banff’s heart is broken watching the devastation in our sister community. We commend @JasperNP for the safe evacuation of residents and visitors and we continue to be in awe of the first responders. #Jasper, we love you and we are here for you 🤍
Just spoke with Mayor Ireland in Jasper on the wildfire evacuations in Alberta.
These fires escalated rapidly, and I’m grateful for the brave first responders — and the neighbouring towns opening their homes to evacuees. Jasper, we’re here for you.
Banff will have a hard time sleeping tonight knowing our sister community is in danger of wildfire. Sending our love and support to Jasper while we pray for everyone’s safety ⛰️🤍
Signed, sealed, and delivered 🥳Transformational bylaws to stimulate new housing development are in effect. You can now build housing w/out parking requirements and w/ more density. Thanks @BanffNP for working w/ urgency to help us address Banff’s housing crisis. A historic day!
The sun has set on the spring car-free Bow Valley Parkway experience ✨🚲Thanks @BanffNP for a wonderful season of riding side-by-side with friends, listening to the birdsong, and simply enjoying the open road without the worry of 🚗s. Can’t wait for another spin in September 🍂
We continue to be grateful for receiving Housing Accelerator Fund support 🇨🇦 During @FCM_online I updated @seanfrasermp on our progress on making bold, transformational change in Banff. He’s looking forward to hearing how these policy changes will accelerate new housing for us 🏠
The amazing mayor of Banff, @banffmayor & I, salivating over the many pedestrian only areas of Calgary! So much life breathed into these streets & the businesses I talked to have been so supportive of these initiatives! Patios, people, music, art, economic development & more! ✅
@brettbergie Thank you for rolling out the red, active modes carpet for me. I loved the view of the city from the saddle and spending time with my amazing tour guide 🤩🚲
The Town of #Banff is very proud to officially be recognized as an Age-Friendly Community by the province of Alberta today at The Fenlands. Minister Jason Nixon, minister of seniors, community, and social services, presented the plaque to Age-Friendly committee member Sharon Phillips at the launch of Seniors’ Week.
There are lots of activities planned locally to celebrate Seniors’ Week, June 3-9. Check out https://t.co/yk7mp5unWn for a full list
Lively discussions on success stories and challenges of the worldly famous tourist town, were held between Deputy Head of Mission, Minister Furuya and @banffmayor Ms. DiManno. #Banff
#Banff Avenue closed to vehicles today in preparation for the work to convert the two blocks downtown into a pedestrian zone in time for the May Long Weekend.
Banff Town Council has decided to hold a vote of eligible Banff voters on August 12 on long-term plans to have a pedestrian zone every summer.
In the meantime, Parks Canada has approved continuation of the pilot to include restaurant patios and retail displays, while working with the Town on future decisions about commercial activity in the public realm.
The pedestrian zone will continue until Thanksgiving Long Weekend or until a few weeks after the vote, if the majority vote against the pedestrian zone. Details: https://t.co/spjrVeC1vY
There are municipal politicians out there who routinely disrespect renters in public input and community consultation, suggesting either subtly or overtly that property or home owners are somehow more legitimate citizens or that their voices should count more. This is obviously profoundly wrong and completely out-of-line. It’s in part based on their assumption that renters vote less. Renters, prove them wrong. Vote.
