We’ve had a great weekend celebrating a century of South Notts!

Preserved and associated South Notts buses travelled along the route yesterday including a visit to @GCRNottingham, with a special Open Day at @NHVCharity today.

Members of the founding Dabell family joined us yesterday, along with former South Notts colleagues and members of the @bartonsplc family, recognising their involvement in South Notts.

Thank you to everyone who joined us and made it all possible.

Here’s to the next 100 years 🎉

@NCT_Buses An enjoyable, friendly, very slickly professional and poignant Centenary weekend from several once entirely independent organisations. For over a century these have either provided, or still do provide, Nottingham and the very much wider area with motor bus transport, since such an originally technologically advanced form of transport was invented. Most sincere thanks too to organisations @GCRNottingham and @NHVCharity who so generously celebrate this heritage, with their own time, labour, funds and enthusiasm.

@markwolfy Probably could still comfortably manage some proper road work despite being built nearly 80 years ago, and withdrawn from service more than 50 years ago....and largely untouched since!

The high summer English sun was illuminating the side of this Barton Transport, one owner from new, 1948 Duple Leyland PD1 most charmingly this afternoon. We were honoured to be in the 1913 Chilwell Garage "Engine Shop", and as plenty have said before, this was and is a great place to work!
