Angry Bangladeshi Farmers Chase #BSF Personnel With Sticks in Burimari, Lalmonirhat!
Indian BSF personnel entered nearly 100 yards into #Bangladesh through the Bamdol border area in Burimari, near border pillar 837/4S, and attacked local farmers working in their fields. The farmers united and chased the BSF personnel with sticks, forcing them to retreat into #India.
The BSF retaliated by firing blank rounds and throwing sound bombs and cocktails at the Bangladeshis. Border Guard Bangladesh (#BGB) rushed to the scene and strongly protested the alleged incursion and attacks.
Concerns Raised over Mass Evictions of Muslims and Mosque Demolitions in India
I express my deep concern and strongly condemn the recent demolition of more than 1,100 Bengali Muslim homes in Assam, India, by the authorities.
The demolition drive also reportedly destroyed more than 10 mosques, some of which had stood for over 50 years.
While the authorities have justified these actions as an effort to reclaim government and forest land from alleged “encroachers”, Indian media reports indicate that many affected families have deep-rooted ties to the region, having lived on these lands since long before India’s independence.
Instead of ensuring adequate resettlement and rehabilitation, the authorities have left many families displaced and vulnerable, with some reportedly placed in detention centres.
This latest operation is part of a disturbing pattern of discrimination and persecution of Bengali Muslims in India, fuelled by Hindutva-driven politics.
Approximately 19,000 families have reportedly been displaced over the past decade.
For years, Bengali Muslims in India have faced crackdowns, forced push-ins and exclusion from voter lists.
These actions suggest that the current government is pursuing a targeted agenda against Muslim minorities and actively enforcing measures that threaten their rights and security.
This evokes the unlawful demolition of the historic Babri Masjid in 1992, an event that remains an enduring symbol of religious intolerance and communal division.
Under Hindutva fascism, India has categorically failed to protect its minority communities, including Muslims, Christians and Sikhs, as well as lower-caste Hindus.
I call upon the international community to take immediate cognisance of the systematic persecution of Muslims by the Indian authorities.
The Indian government must be held accountable for these serious human rights violations and infringements on religious freedom. It must uphold the principles of justice and equality for every Indian citizen, regardless of caste, religion or cultural identity.
Muslims of India are Indians too.

Statement of Concern over Eviction of Assam Muslims and Demolition of Mosques
We express our deep concern over the eviction of Muslim families and the demolition of Mosques in Assam.
On Sunday, October 18, the State Government of Assam demolished the homes of more than 600 Muslim families in the Lutumari–Longjap Reserved Forest Area under Nagaon district.
The previous day, Saturday, October 17, another 547 families were evicted across three districts of Assam. More than 1,100 families were subjected to eviction within just two days. Local residents have also reported that 10 more Mosques were demolished during these eviction drives, some of which were over 50 years old.
A Gujarat High Court decision of removing a portion of the nearly 400-year-old Mancha Mosque in Ahmedabad, India, paved the way for its demolition. Earlier, in September 2024, several structures, including ancient mosques and graveyards, were demolished in Gujarat’s Gir Somnath district.
Although the Muslim petitioners approached the Supreme Court over the incident, the Court did not order a halt to the eviction drive. However, it did seek the government’s response on the matter.
We are deeply concerned about these incidents. The Indian government is not only failing to protect the rights of Muslim minorities but is also undermining their rights in various ways. Such incidents run counter to humanity, the rule of law, and the values of a civilized society. Regardless of where such actions take place or who is responsible for them, these ill-activities must be condemned.
We call upon all the people of Bangladesh not to allow anyone to exploit provocations to create religious divisions and social unrest within the country. We must not fall into anyone’s trap.
We must preserve the social harmony that exists in our beloved country at all costs. May Almighty Allah grant us all the strength and guidance to ensure such situation, Ameen.

A #BGB official is seen making a BSF member apologize to a Bangladeshi citizen in Dahagram.
Citing past incidents, he says Dahagram residents have previously detained #BSF personnel along with their weapons. He also warns that the people of the area are extremely courageous and will not hesitate for a moment to take matters into their own hands if the issue remains unresolved.
